The director operates with the goal of increasing the effectiveness of all university instructors as the institution strives towards its vision of becoming the next great learner-centric university. The director works collaboratively with stakeholders within and beyond the institution to design and deliver educational development programming that supports faculty in achieving the desired standards and norms for faculty performance, communication, and personal and professional growth.\n \nEssential Job Functions and Performance Indicators\n \nThe intent of this job description is to provide a representation of the types of duties and level of responsibility that will be required of positions given this title. Employees may be directed to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.\n \nJob Responsibilities and Execution\n\n Ensures all department Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are created, regularly updated, and consistently used in onboarding and training to support accuracy, quality, and operational consistency.\n Develops, initiates, and maintains effective and impactful educational development programs based on established and emerging research in the scholarship of teaching and learning to support faculty retention and promotion opportunities.\n Draws on multiple sources of data and insight to coordinate and deliver an annual needs assessment for faculty training and development; establishes and implements data collection and assessment strategies to evaluate the effectiveness of educational development programming.\n Provides leadership in developing and refining the faculty performance evaluation process, instrument, and training materials to support effective and transparent evaluation practices.\n Designs and implements comprehensive support programs and resources specifically for adjunct faculty, including the annual adjunct conference.\n Develops and facilitates intensive educational development experiences such as course design institutes, mini-institutes, book-based professional learning communities and other long-form development opportunities that foster deep engagement with pedagogical scholarship and practice.\n Assists in coaching, enhancing, and remediating employees as appropriate or as directed by employees' supervisors\n Recognizes excellence in teaching and learning at Lindenwood through RISE awards, grants, and other methods. \n \nLeadership and Strategic Thinking\n\n Represents Lindenwood University at internal and external events related to educational development, teaching and learning, and the scholarship of teaching and learning\n Recruits, interviews, hires, supervises and evaluates the Manager of Learning Design and other relevant support staff in compliance with Lindenwood standards and procedures\n Collaborates with the Director of Organizational Development, university administrators, faculty, and staff to develop short- and long-term plans, schedules, calendars and budgets for educational development initiatives\n \nEmployee Management and Development\n\n Supports the mission of the University and serves as an ambassador of the Q2 culture of service excellence\n Models, supports, and holds others accountable to the University's values\n Builds rapport with students, colleagues, and community members, communicating in the way best suited for each audience\n Develops, presents, and assesses annual new faculty orientation program, faculty welcome activities, and coordinates the adjunct instructor conference\n \nJob may require other duties as assigned.\n \nRequired Qualifications \u2013 An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.
