Director, Emergency & Trauma Services: This 1.0 FTE/Full-time position is scheduled to work 8-HR day shifts, variable days of the week.

Compensation: Exempt, $67.05/HR - $95.78/HR

Job Summary:

Accountable for effective ongoing operations (24/7) of Emergency and Trauma Services. Maintains high standards of nursing care and staff performance. Establishes policies and procedures to provide administrative direction and develops and maintains a positive work environment. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Provides strategic leadership for the Emergency Department, ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care across 24/7 operations. Oversees clinical and operational performance, including staffing, workflow, and resource allocation, while remaining actively engaged on the floor with staff as needed to support safe, efficient, and compliant care delivery. 
2. Participates in the development, implementation and ongoing assessment of nursing and trauma protocols and standards of care. 
3. Facilitates continuous process improvement. Identifies opportunities for improvement through patient and staff rounding and review of patient records; identifies problems and appropriate action for improving outcomes. Contributes to quality improvement programs and initiatives in accordance with hospital policies, community standards, and compliance with all laws, regulations and requirements of appropriate licensing and accrediting bodies. 
4. Builds and maintains effective working relationships. Advises and consults with physicians, nurses, and other hospital personnel. Serves as a liaison across disciplines. Acts as a liaison between community partners, EMS and other hospitals. Participates as an active member of various committees; leads work groups, projects and committees as assigned. 
5. Actively supports a positive workplace culture. Monitors the work performance of staff and provides timely feedback and performance management. Maintains effective employee and labor relations practices, including timely follow-up and resolution of concerns or issues. Ensures that policies and collective bargaining agreements are administered consistently and equitably.
6. Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements.
7. Other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

1. Bachelors Degree in Nursing. Masters degree in Nursing, Business Administration or Healthcare Systems.
2. Five (5) years of recent relevant experience in an emergency department.
3. Five (5) years of recent nursing leadership experience.
4. Trauma Services experience, preferred.

Required Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations:

1. Registered Nurse in the State of Washington.
2. Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification, or within 180 days of hire.
3. Current Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) certification.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

1. Advanced knowledge of nursing theories and practices. Demonstrated competence in clinical skills; ability to perform, evaluate and teach required nursing tasks.
2. Ability to cultivate effective partnerships and work in collaboration with providers, other health care professionals, caregivers, and patients. Strong leadership, facilitation, delegation, and coaching skills. 
3. Proficient in the use of current technology, including Microsoft Office products. Ability to learn and effectively use electronic medical records and other systems and equipment. 
4. Ability to develop processes and protocols and to maintain accurate documentation and records.
5. Professional and effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to identify and employ communication strategies appropriate to the audience.
6. Demonstrated leadership, communication, education, and collaboration skills.
7. Ability to work independently performing a wide variety of assignments that require the use of independent judgment, problem-solving, organization, and prioritization skills.
