    Description

    Overview

AgentSync builds applications and the API infrastructure that lets insurance carriers, agencies, and health plans manage producer licensing, appointments, contracting, and onboarding without the manual busywork the industry is used to. We're hiring a Director, Engineering to lead the API and Distribution Application team — the group responsible for the identity and authentication systems, contracting/onboarding products, commercialized APIs, and the partnership data integrations that sit at the core of the AgentSync product.

This is a hands-on engineering leadership role: you'll manage a team of backend engineers, front end engineers, and own a technical roadmap that spans both platform and application ownership.   This includes: a multi-org identity rework, NIPR connectivity, and third-party payment and commissions integrations, and be the person Product, Support, and DevOps turn to when platform-level questions come up.

    What You’ll Do

    • Lead and grow a team of front-end engineers building a net-new product from the ground up — owning delivery against timeline, scope, and quality bars from concept through GA
    • Lead and grow a team of front end engineers building a net new product and deliver it to market, with successful time, scope and quality
    • Lead AgentSync's AI transformation across the development organization, embedding AI-assisted tooling and practices into every stage of the SDLC — planning, design, development, testing, and deployment
    • Manage a development manager who leads a customer operations engineering team, ensuring their priorities and staffing stay aligned with customer needs
    • Drive the technical roadmap for the identity and access model, including SSO, multi-org membership, and account linking, in partnership with Product
    • Partner directly with the CTO to shape strategy for new application delivery, translating executive vision into a concrete, executable engineering roadmap
    • Oversee third-party payment and commissions integrations (e.g., payment processor and commission/compensation systems) end to end, from API design through production support
    • Set and enforce the team's UAT and release process — reviewing engineer work, approving promotion through environments, and keeping delivery predictable
    • Own the team's security posture: triage and drive down dependency/vulnerability alerts (Dependabot and similar) against SLA across owned services
    • Partner with Support and DevOps to triage production issues quickly, and prioritize the backlog (Jira) based on customer and business impact
    • Represent AgentSync engineering in external and industry forums (e.g., NIPR Company Advisory Board) and translate what you hear there into roadmap decisions
    • Report roadmap, risk, and delivery status to engineering and business leadership

    What You’ll Bring

    • 10+ years of experience managing backend or platform engineering teams, ideally within B2B SaaS, insurtech, regtech, or another compliance-heavy domain
    • Hands-on experience integrating AI-assisted development tools and practices into an engineering team's workflow, with a track record of measurable gains in velocity or quality
    • A demonstrated appetite for ambiguity and change, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment without sacrificing delivery excellence
    • A bias toward shipping, learning, and iterating quickly, built through close partnership with Product, Professional Services, Sales, and Support
    • Direct experience with identity and access management — SSO/OIDC, multi-tenant auth, account or org-membership models
    • Comfort owning systems that touch regulatory compliance, licensing, or financial data, and translating regulatory nuance into engineering requirements
    • A track record of shipping through a real UAT/release process and running a disciplined vulnerability remediation program
    • Strong cross-functional partnership skills — you'll work daily with Product, Support, DevOps, and Security
    • Hands-on technical background in Go and/or Java backend services; comfort reviewing architecture and unblocking engineers on hard problems
    • Clear written and verbal communication — this role runs on Slack, Jira, and async updates across a distributed team
    • A plus if you have prior experience with insurance producer licensing, appointments, or contracting workflows
    • A plus if you have experience integrating third-party payment processors or commission/compensation systems
