About the role

The Cigna Group is seeking a strategic, audience-focused leader to oversee enterprise content strategy and owned external content across The Cigna Group, Cigna Healthcare and Evernorth Health Services Newsrooms.

This leader will build and direct an integrated enterprise content system that translates business priorities, customer and patient needs, clinical expertise, data and research, and public affairs insights into clear, credible and useful content. The role will connect enterprise storytelling across owned, earned, paid, social, executive and internal channels so that priority stories are planned together, reach the right audiences, and deliver measurable business and reputation impact.

Key responsibilities

Lead enterprise content strategy

• Define and continually evolve the enterprise content strategy in alignment with The Cigna Group's business strategy, enterprise narrative and priority audiences.
• Translate enterprise and business priorities into a focused portfolio of content themes, campaigns and editorial opportunities.
• Lead the enterprise editorial planning process, including annual, quarterly and always-on planning across the three Newsrooms and broader content ecosystem.
• Serve as a strategic adviser to senior Communications, Marketing, Social Media and business leaders on content priorities, audience strategy and owned-media opportunities.

Oversee The Cigna Group's enterprise Newsrooms

• Set the vision, distinctive role and strategic priorities for The Cigna Group, Cigna Healthcare and Evernorth Health Services Newsrooms.
• Oversee the editorial calendar and content portfolio across articles, executive perspectives, explainers, multimedia stories, research, data-driven content, podcasts, video and other emerging formats.
• Establish clear criteria for what should be published, where it should appear, and how it should be activated beyond the Newsroom.
• Maintain high standards for accuracy, clarity, credibility, accessibility, brand voice and compliance.

Establish enterprise governance and operating discipline

• Lead a cross-functional enterprise planning forum that prioritizes key topics, audiences, moments and outcomes.
• Develop scalable workflows for content intake, prioritization, development, review, publishing, distribution and optimization.
• Create practical standards, tools and templates that help teams apply the enterprise content strategy consistently.
• Balance centralized enterprise direction with the expertise and needs of business, functional and channel teams.

Use data, search and AI to improve content impact

• Refine content measurement framework aligned to audience, reputation and business outcomes.
• Partner with measurement and analytics teams to establish performance dashboards, benchmarks and learning agendas across the Newsrooms and content campaigns.
• Use audience data, search behavior, social listening, earned-media insights and content performance to refine priorities and improve results.
• Establish standards for SEO, answer-engine optimization and generative-engine optimization so enterprise content is readily discoverable and understandable across traditional search and AI-powered platforms.
• Champion responsible use of AI-enabled tools to improve research, planning, content adaptation, tagging, workflow efficiency and performance analysis.
• Create a test-and-learn culture that evaluates new formats, distribution methods and audience-engagement approaches.

Ideal candidates will offer

• 12 or more years of experience in enterprise content strategy, corporate communications, content marketing, brand journalism, digital publishing, editorial leadership or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience leading content strategy across a large, matrixed organization with multiple businesses, brands or stakeholder groups.
• Proven ability to connect business strategy and audience needs to content priorities, distribution strategies and measurable outcomes.
• Experience leading owned-media platforms, corporate Newsrooms, content hubs or enterprise editorial programs.
• Strong understanding of integrated communications across owned, earned, paid, social, executive and internal channels.
• Experience establishing content governance, editorial planning processes and cross-functional operating models.
• Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders and align stakeholders without relying solely on direct authority.
• Strong command of audience analytics, content performance measurement, SEO and emerging AI-driven discovery practices.
• Excellent editorial judgment and the ability to simplify complex health care, business, clinical and policy topics without sacrificing accuracy.
• Experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
• Ability to operate effectively in a highly regulated, fast-moving environment.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience in health care, financial services or another highly regulated industry.
• Experience overseeing multiple owned-content properties or a federated content model.
• Familiarity with content-management platforms, audience analytics, social listening and enterprise workflow tools.
• Experience integrating corporate communications and marketing content strategies.
• Experience developing content for sophisticated external audiences, including investors, employers, policymakers, clinicians, customers and patients.
• Understanding of AI-enabled content workflows, answer-engine optimization and generative-engine optimization.
• Ability to work from a Cigan Group office 3 days a week, as directed by the business.

If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 152,300 - 253,800 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus and long term incentive plan.
