Job Summary

This position reports to and supports the Chief Information Officer and directly manages IT employees across all campuses and locations. The role is responsible for the strategic planning and operational support of systems, voice, data, and network services for the College, including day-to-day management of hardware and software activities supporting these environments.

This position carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with College policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance; providing coaching and development; addressing complaints; and resolving operational and personnel issues.

This is an at-will position.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities & Knowledge Skills & Abilities

  • Strong technical leadership and project management experience in enterprise IT environments.
  • Extensive knowledge of digital voice and data telecommunications systems, including performance optimization and capacity planning.
  • Broad understanding of networking technologies across all OSI layers, from physical infrastructure through application-level communications.
  • Experience with server and client virtualization technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams, set direction, and develop strategic goals.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Experience evaluating and recommending cost-effective technology solutions, including infrastructure, hardware, and software platforms.
  • Experience working with diverse hardware platforms and operating systems.
  • Understanding of enterprise backup, recovery, and data retention practices.
  • Experience monitoring and analyzing system and network utilization, availability, and performance metrics.
  • Ability to interpret operational data and implement improvements based on trends and user support metrics.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work closely with administrative, faculty, and technical user communities.
  • Experience managing IT staff and operational processes.
  • Working knowledge of enterprise telecommunications technologies (e.g., VoIP, SIP, UCaaS).
  • Working knowledge of network infrastructure, including switching, routing, wireless, and data center technologies.
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP and web-based technologies.
  • Working knowledge of dynamic routing protocols in enterprise environments.
  • Good understanding of network security concepts, including firewalls, access control, and segmentation.
  • Good understanding of Network Access Control (NAC) and identity-based network technologies, including 802.1x.
  • Good understanding of load balancing and high-availability architectures.
  • Good understanding of enterprise infrastructure architecture and design principles.

Minimum qualifications

Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; five (5) years of full-time experience architecting, configuring, and managing a large enterprise network; three (3) years of full-time supervisory experience; and one (1) year of systems administration experience. Experience may be concurrent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industry certifications in networking (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent).
  • Experience with Arista network platforms.
  • Experience with RingCentral voice platforms.
  • Experience with or exposure to Microsoft Teams Voice, including telephony integration or migration efforts.
  • Experience with enterprise call center / contact center technologies.
  • Experience in Higher Education Environment
  • Experience with BigIP F5 and Cloudflare Technologies
