Summary Description
The Director of Expense and Cost Control oversees the performance of operations across all profit and loss (P&L) lines within the organization. They are responsible for reducing cost from the business and developing operational structure and initiatives that consistently reduce operating expenses. The role is also responsible for the successful deployment of store focused capital expense (CAPEX) projects. This role involves crafting short and long-term focus areas for the team, strategic objectives, tactical plans, managing day-to-day operations, and providing leadership to achieve business goals.

Programs
- Develops forward-looking, cross-functional action plans for improving profitability across all stores. Works across the organization to ensure we are driving profitable sales, while also achieving optimal performance in key expense categories, such as labor and shrink.
- Develops forward-looking action plans and reports to business leaders on a routine basis.
- Evaluates and advises on the impact of long-range planning, introduction of new programs/strategies and regulatory action.
- Designs and develops pilots, PoCs, Tests in conjunction with cross-functional partners.
- Works closely with the Director of Business Process Improvement to ensure the successful deployment of store focused CAPEX projects.
Process
- Develops a comprehensive operations strategy with an emphasis on improving processes by which cross-functional partners and operations communicate their needs.
- Guides field leadership and store teams to efficiently execute programs and processes; utilizes all P&L metrics to track performance and manage store workload.
- Ensures operational processes and procedures are compliant and consistent with established policies and regulations.
- Ensures store operations alignment to Growth Office Initiatives.
- Drives tactical alignment to key expense and cost control initiatives.
- Guides and advises Business Process Improvement Initiatives.
- Continuously improves and scales store operations to ensure cost-efficiency.
Communication-
- Quarterly review of Engage & Enrich training materials to ensure accurate information is provided to field partners, including evaluation of operations programs and policies.
- Develops communication for expense and cost control measures, incorporating company direction and connection to growth office initiatives.
- Communicates and coordinates with key enterprise leaders to drive initiatives in area of responsibility, focused on cost saving measures.
- Builds and streamlines communication delivered to the stores from multiple business units, increasing efficiency and reducing duplication and volume.
Leadership
- Collaborates and communicates with field leadership and store teams to determine and deploy expense and cost control initiatives.
- Partners with HR partners to design, develop and deliver training that drives operational effectiveness in expense and cost control.
- Fosters cross-functional partnerships and influences across the organization to discover, design, develop and deliver new programs/strategies that will lead to more efficient operations performance.
- Collaborates with cross-functional enterprise leadership to represent the perspective of team members executing in-store.
- Develop forward-looking plans to enhance the customer experience through improved customer service throughout the store.
- Play a role in the mentorship and development of Operations Specialists.
