Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Director, Facilities to lead the strategic planning, development, and day-to-day operations of facilities and infrastructure supporting our inverter manufacturing plant in Mesa, Arizona.

This role will have overall accountability for facility reliability, plant utilities, maintenance, capital improvements, site services, regulatory compliance support, and long-term infrastructure planning. The Director will play a critical leadership role in the factory launch, production ramp-up, capacity expansion, and ongoing operational performance of the site.

The Director will partner closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, EHS, Quality, Supply Chain, Finance, Security, and executive leadership to ensure the facility is safe, reliable, scalable, cost-effective, and capable of supporting current and future production requirements. This position will establish the facilities organization, systems, standards, and performance metrics required to support a high-performing manufacturing operation.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership for all facilities, maintenance, utilities, infrastructure, and site services supporting the Mesa manufacturing operation.
• Establish and execute a facilities roadmap aligned with production growth, capacity expansion, operational priorities, and long-term business objectives.
• Lead facility readiness for plant start-up, production ramp-up, new equipment installation, line expansions, and future manufacturing phases.
• Ensure reliable operation of critical infrastructure, including electrical distribution, HVAC, compressed air, water systems, fire protection, security systems, building systems, and other manufacturing support utilities.
• Develop the facilities organization, staffing model, operating procedures, maintenance standards, and service delivery structure required to support the plant.
• Lead and develop facilities, maintenance, and site services personnel, including technicians, supervisors, managers, contractors, and third-party service providers.
• Establish preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs that maximize asset reliability, reduce unplanned downtime, and extend the useful life of facility infrastructure.
• Develop and manage annual operating budgets, capital plans, maintenance programs, service contracts, spare parts, energy costs, and facility improvement initiatives.
• Provide financial oversight and accountability for facility-related operating expenses, capital projects, vendor performance, and cost-reduction initiatives.
• Lead the planning and execution of facility capital projects, infrastructure upgrades, building modifications, and plant expansion projects from concept through completion.
• Partner with Manufacturing Engineering and Operations on plant layout changes, equipment installations, process utilities, production line expansions, and capacity planning.
• Establish facility standards for design, construction, commissioning, turnover, documentation, maintainability, and lifecycle management.
• Establish and maintain facilities KPIs and executive reporting for uptime, reliability, maintenance effectiveness, work orders, energy use, safety, cost, project delivery, and service performance.
• Support EHS programs by ensuring facility systems and infrastructure comply with applicable safety, environmental, fire, building, and accessibility requirements.
• Coordinate with local authorities, inspectors, utilities, landlords, permitting agencies, emergency responders, and external consultants.
• Maintain accountability for facility-related compliance documentation, inspections, permits, licenses, and corrective actions.
• Drive continuous improvement in energy efficiency, facility reliability, maintenance effectiveness, workplace safety, sustainability, service quality, and cost control.
• Establish and maintain emergency response, business continuity, disaster recovery, utility interruption, and critical incident procedures.
• Support site security, access control, life-safety systems, emergency preparedness, and physical security requirements in partnership with the Security and EHS teams.
• Ensure the facility remains clean, safe, secure, well-maintained, production-ready, and capable of supporting future business growth.
• Represent Facilities in cross-functional leadership forums and provide clear updates, recommendations, risk assessments, and escalation of critical issues to senior leadership.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Construction Management, Industrial Technology, Business Administration, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
• 12+ years of progressive experience in facilities, plant engineering, industrial maintenance, manufacturing operations, or a related discipline.
• At least 5 years of experience leading facilities, maintenance, plant engineering, or infrastructure teams, preferably in a Director-level or comparable role.
• Experience leading facilities operations in a manufacturing, industrial, electronics, automotive, power equipment, semiconductor, battery, or high-volume production environment.
• Demonstrated experience establishing or scaling a facilities organization supporting a new factory, major expansion, production ramp-up, or complex industrial operation.
• Strong knowledge of industrial utilities, electrical distribution, HVAC, building systems, process support infrastructure, maintenance programs, fire protection, and facility reliability practices.
• Proven experience managing significant operating budgets, capital programs, facility projects, service contracts, and vendor relationships.
• Demonstrated ability to develop teams, establish organizational structure, set priorities, and build effective operating systems.
• · Experience presenting facility strategies, budgets, risks, project updates, and investment recommendations to senior and executive leadership.
• Strong understanding of workplace safety, regulatory compliance, building codes, fire protection, environmental requirements, and contractor safety.
• Demonstrated ability to manage urgent production-impacting issues while maintaining a strategic, preventive, and data-driven approach.
• Strong communication, negotiation, organizational, financial, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to build effective partnerships across Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, EHS, Quality, Supply Chain, Finance, Security, and executive leadership.
• Proficiency with CMMS, enterprise work-order systems, project management tools, Microsoft Office, and facilities reporting platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in inverter, power electronics, battery energy storage, solar, semiconductor, electronics, automotive, or advanced manufacturing.
• Experience leading the launch or expansion of a manufacturing facility, including design, construction, commissioning, utility coordination, and operational handoff.
• Experience managing large-scale electrical, HVAC, process utility, automation, or infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing, TPM, 5S, reliability-centered maintenance, predictive maintenance, and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Experience developing energy management, sustainability, utility optimization, or decarbonization programs.
• Familiarity with OSHA, NFPA, NEC, International Building Code, Arizona building and fire codes, environmental regulations, and applicable utility requirements.
• Experience with CMMS implementation, asset management systems, maintenance planning, and facilities performance dashboards.
• Professional certifications such as CFM, FMP, PMP, PE, OSHA 30, or similar credentials are a plus.
