Job Description

Who are we?

IEQ Capital is a Registered Investment Advisor seeking to transform traditional wealth management. Our quest is to integrate the Intellectual and Emotional Quotient, generating exceptional investment results driven by a values-oriented culture that fosters connection and collaboration with our clients. We are an independent, predominantly employee-owned company, adhering to the fiduciary standard to put our clients' interests first. We focus our efforts on helping clients meet their investment objectives without the distractions and limitations that can arise within much larger organizations.

The Role

IEQ Capital is seeking an experienced family office professional to join a dedicated client team in San Francisco.

The Family Office Lead will work closely with the IEQ professionals who oversee and manage our clients’ investment portfolios, taking ownership of the broader non-investment workstreams associated with a select group of complex client relationships. This individual will serve as a central point of accountability across initiatives involving clients, internal team members, attorneys, CPAs, tax professionals, insurance advisors, financial institutions, and other third-party providers.

This role combines project leadership with hands-on execution. The Family Office Lead will establish structure, manage timelines and dependencies, maintain momentum, and ensure that matters are carried through to completion. This person must also be willing to personally execute detailed and time-sensitive tasks, including coordinating wire transfers and payments, managing documentation and signature processes, facilitating NDAs, following up with advisors, and maintaining accurate project trackers.

The position is adjacent to investment management given the nature of IEQ’s work, but it is not an investment-focused role. The individual will coordinate extensively across tax, estate planning, legal, insurance, banking, and operational matters without serving as the client’s attorney, accountant, tax advisor, or investment decision-maker.

The ideal candidate is an exceptionally organized, resourceful, and detail-oriented operator who enjoys bringing structure to complex situations. This person must be comfortable working with highly accomplished clients and professionals in a fast-paced, confidential, and high-expectation environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary operating coordinator for the non-investment aspects of assigned client relationships.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of each client’s entities, advisors, service providers, recurring obligations, and active projects.
  • Translate client and team priorities into actionable workplans with clear ownership, timelines, dependencies, and next steps.
  • Establish and maintain project trackers, action-item lists, operating calendars, and other systems needed to manage multiple concurrent initiatives.
  • Coordinate wire transfers, payments, invoices, banking documentation, account administration, and other financial operations in accordance with established authorization and control procedures.
  • Manage engagement letters, NDAs, signature packages, information requests, document collection, and other administrative workflows through completion.
  • Coordinate among IEQ team members, attorneys, CPAs, tax professionals, insurance advisors, trustees, lenders, banks, and other external providers.
  • Manage third-party provider relationships, including onboarding, information exchange, deliverables, renewals, and ongoing performance.
  • Support complex client initiatives involving areas such as entity administration, insurance, real estate, lending, estate-plan implementation, tax coordination, philanthropy, privacy, security, and major personal transactions.
  • Provide clear and concise status updates, identify risks or delays, and escalate matters requiring strategic direction, client input, or specialist expertise.
  • Create connectivity between investment-related activities and the client’s broader legal, tax, estate, liquidity, insurance, and operational considerations.
  • Ensure that decisions are documented, commitments are followed through, records are maintained, and important details do not fall through the cracks.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of relevant professional experience in a family office, multi-family office, accounting firm, law firm, private bank, wealth management firm, financial operations function, or similarly demanding client-service environment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex projects involving multiple internal participants and external advisors.
  • Strong operational and project management capabilities, including the ability to define ownership, map dependencies, maintain detailed trackers, and meet deadlines.
  • A hands-on execution orientation and willingness to personally manage both high-level initiatives and detailed administrative tasks.
  • Experience coordinating financial transactions, documentation, professional advisors, vendors, or client administrative workflows.
  • Strong business judgment and an understanding of how legal, tax, estate, insurance, banking, and investment-related considerations intersect.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organization, accuracy, and follow-through.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to synthesize complex information into clear actions and concise updates.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment while managing multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated discretion and sound judgment when handling confidential, sensitive, or high-stakes matters.
  • Ability to build credibility with sophisticated clients, senior internal professionals, and highly specialized external advisors.
  • Comfort operating independently while recognizing when a matter requires escalation or subject-matter expertise.

Relevant Professional Backgrounds

Candidates may come from a range of professional backgrounds, including accounting, legal services, family office operations, private banking, wealth management, investment operations, or professional services.

Investment experience can be valuable, but candidates should have a clear interest in owning the operational and execution side of complex family office relationships rather than pursuing an investment-focused role. Legal or accounting experience may also be particularly relevant when paired with a desire to coordinate across disciplines rather than practice exclusively within one technical specialty.

Characteristics of a Successful Candidate

The successful candidate will take ownership of outcomes, create order in ambiguous situations, anticipate what needs to happen next, and consistently close the loop. This person will move comfortably between strategic context and detailed execution, communicate effectively with highly accomplished individuals, and know when to proceed independently, seek input, or escalate. The role requires discretion, urgency, humility, resourcefulness, and exceptionally high standards.

Compensation

The salary range for this role, inclusive of base salary and bonus, is $170,000 - $225,000, depending on skills and experience.
