Director, Federal IT Programs

Unissant is seeking a Director, Federal IT Programs to join the team in support of a specific Federal IT services account. This leader will provide account-level oversight for several programs within one client account/agency, ensuring coordinated delivery, consistent performance, and alignment with customer mission priorities.

The ideal candidate brings strong Director-level Federal program leadership experience managing large-scale IT service environments, overseeing multiple program managers or delivery leads, and driving service delivery excellence across service desk, infrastructure operations, configuration management, and cybersecurity functions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide Director-level leadership and account oversight for several Federal IT services programs within one client account.
  • Oversee enterprise-scale programs, some supporting at least 2000 users across Service Desk, Infrastructure Operations, Configuration Management, and Cybersecurity.
  • Oversee program managers, delivery leads, and cross-functional teams to ensure consistent execution, integrated planning, and coordinated performance across the account portfolio.
  • Accountable for account financials, contracts, personnel, and customer relationships.
  • Drive continuous service improvement initiatives and operational efficiencies through the application of ITIL, PMP, and Agile frameworks.
  • Oversee contract performance, monitor SLAs and KPIs, and implement corrective actions and service enhancements as needed.
  • Serve as a senior point of contact for Federal stakeholders and provide clear, timely communication on account health, program status, risks, issues, and performance.
  • Coordinate cross-functional technical teams across multiple programs and ensure successful, integrated delivery of account and program objectives.

Work Experience and Job Skills

  • 15+ years of experience, with at least five years of experience managing or overseeing comprehensive IT services contracts for a Federal organization of at least 2000 users, including Service Desk, Infrastructure Operations, Configuration Management, and Cybersecurity.
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing several programs within a single account or portfolio, including responsibility for integrated performance, customer relationship management, resource alignment, and delivery governance.
  • Proven ability to drive service improvements and apply ITIL, PMP, and Agile practices in a Federal environment.
  • Demonstrated record of effective leadership and communication with Federal stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and operational management skills.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree is required. Preferred field of study in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Operations Management, or related field of study.
  • MBA/Master's Degree in a relevant field of study preferred.

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations

  • PMP certification preferred.
  • ITIL certification preferred.
  • Agile certification preferred.

Communication Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written skills, ability to present proposals and performance data, comfortable interfacing all levels of organization.
  • Ability to write clear and concise creative content in a highly confidential manner.

Travel

  • Travel may be required based on client and program needs.

Environmental Requirements

  • Mainly a routine office environment.
  • May be required to lift up to ten (10) pounds.
  • Flexible in working extended hours.
