The Director of Finance is responsible for the strategic financial management and oversight of all accounting operations at Morongo Casino Resort & Spa, including both gaming and non-gaming functions. This leadership role supports the Chief Financial Officer by ensuring accurate reporting, financial planning, operational compliance, and alignment with the organization's financial objectives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages the financial departments including general ledger, financial reporting, casino and hotel audit, financial planning and analysis, count room, payroll, accounts payable, and warehouse operations.
- Oversees and administers the financial software systems to support accurate and efficient financial operations.
- Supervises finance and accounting team members to ensure departmental efficiency and regulatory compliance.
- Ensures compliance with all gaming regulations, company policies, and financial control procedures.
- Provides the CFO with accurate and timely financial reports to support strategic planning and organizational goals.
- Analyzes and reports on financial data and performance across all operational areas of the casino and resort.
- Coordinates the implementation of new accounting systems and improvements to internal control procedures.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer or Chief Operating Officer.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides leadership and direction to the finance department, fostering a productive and compliant work environment.
- Recruits, trains, and develops team members to meet performance expectations and maintain organizational standards.
- Monitors and evaluates staff performance; provides coaching, discipline, and growth opportunities as needed.
- Ensures alignment with grooming standards, internal systems, procedures, and productivity goals.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive financial data.
- Proficient in financial reporting, P&L preparation, and financial statement analysis.
- Advanced proficiency in PC software, spreadsheets, and accounting applications.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state tax regulations and reporting requirements.
- Effective communicator with strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Ability to tactfully interact with team members, management, and external entities.
- High ethical standards and business integrity with a commitment to excellence in guest and team member service.
- Thrives in fast-paced, results-driven environments.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field required.
- CPA, MBA, or other relevant professional certification strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive finance experience, including at least 3–5 years in a leadership or director-level role.
- Extensive experience in financial planning and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and regulatory compliance.
- Proficiency in financial systems and ERP platforms (e.g., Oracle, SAP, UKG Pro, or similar) required.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, drive strategic initiatives, and support executive decision-making.
- Experience in hospitality, gaming, or a similarly dynamic, high-volume environment strongly preferred.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must have successfully completed a background check and obtained a gaming license issued by the Morongo Gaming Agency, as required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Must be able to read and interpret documents in English, such as instructions, guidelines, policies, and procedures. Must also be able to communicate clearly and effectively with team members, management, and guests.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This is a dynamic, fast-paced environment that requires the ability to adapt and perform under pressure. The casino operates with moderate to loud noise levels and is a smoking environment, requiring team members to work comfortably in these conditions.
WORKING HOURS:
Morongo Casino Resort & Spa operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; therefore, flexibility in scheduling is essential. Team members must be available to work shifts that may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events. Schedules are subject to change based on business needs and may include overtime, as well as work on both weekdays and weekends.
