About the Role:
The Director of Finance & Medical Billing plays a critical leadership role in overseeing all financial operations and medical billing processes within the Community Mental Health & Wellness division. This position is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely billing, revenue cycle management, and compliance with healthcare regulations and financial policies. The director will lead a team of finance and billing professionals, driving process improvements and implementing best practices to optimize financial performance. They will collaborate closely with clinical, administrative, Finance and IT teams to align financial strategies with organizational goals. Ultimately, this role ensures the financial health and sustainability of CMHW by managing budgets, forecasting, overseeing revenue capture and cost control activities, financial planning, analysis and reporting. They will also serve as a thought partner in developing proactive financial strategies that support sustainable growth and mitigate risk. Manage and mentor the billing team, and lead the development of staff and systems in ways that optimize and improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
Qualifications:
BA or BS degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field required, MA degree preferred. Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in healthcare finance and medical billing management, with at least 5 years of supervision experience. Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), or Certified Professional Biller (CPB) certification preferred.
Strong knowledge of medical billing systems, healthcare reimbursement methodologies, and regulatory requirements such as HIPAA and CMS guidelines. Proven experience managing teams and leading financial operations within a healthcare setting. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems and advanced billing software. Familiarity with Medicaid, Medicare and private insurance billing processes. Demonstrated success in implementing financial systems improvements and revenue cycle optimization.
