Rocket is a leading financial technology and consumer services company focused on helping clients achieve important financial and homeownership goals. We are committed to delivering innovative solutions, creating exceptional client experiences, and engaging thoughtfully in the public policy conversations that affect our business, our clients, and the communities we serve.

As the Director, Government Affairs, you will help shape the public policy landscape by representing Rocket before lawmakers, regulators, policymakers, trade associations, industry groups, and other key stakeholders. In this role, you will develop and execute government affairs strategies, build trusted external relationships, monitor legislative and regulatory developments, and translate complex policy issues into clear business implications for company leaders. This role is ideal for a strategic, relationship-oriented government affairs professional who understands the federal policymaking process and can represent Rocket with credibility, judgment, and professionalism.

About the Role

  • Establish, develop, maintain, and strengthen relationships with lawmakers, regulators, federal agencies, policymakers, congressional staff, trade associations, industry coalitions, and other stakeholders to advance Rocket’s public policy priorities.

  • Develop and implement government affairs strategies that support Rocket’s mission, values, business priorities, and long-term growth objectives.

  • Monitor, analyze, and assess legislative, regulatory, agency, and public policy developments that may affect Rocket, its clients, or the broader housing, mortgage, banking, fintech, consumer finance, and financial services sectors.

  • Partner with internal business leaders and teams to evaluate policy impacts, coordinate company responses, and align advocacy efforts with enterprise priorities.

  • Prepare persuasive communications, briefing materials, talking points, policy summaries, legislative updates, memos, and other written materials for senior leaders and internal stakeholders.

  • Organize and support meetings, briefings, site visits, events, and other engagements with elected officials, regulators, agency staff, congressional staff, trade associations, and industry partners.

  • Represent Rocket at external meetings, policy forums, industry events, trade association discussions, and stakeholder engagements as appropriate.

  • Mentor and support team members by sharing expertise, strengthening policy understanding, and contributing to a collaborative, high-performing government affairs function.

About You

  • 7+ years of experience in public policy, government, government affairs, legislative affairs, public affairs, or a related field.

  • Bachelor’s degree in political science, public policy, communications, law, business, or a related field.

  • Extensive knowledge of federal government institutions, agencies, legislative processes, regulatory processes, and policymaking functions.

  • Advanced written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to tailor communications to executive, policymaker, technical, and business audiences.

  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain productive relationships with policymakers, regulators, staff, trade associations, industry stakeholders, and internal business partners.

  • Ability to quickly learn new issues, assess policy and business implications, and build credibility in new environments.

  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams, competing priorities, and time-sensitive policy matters simultaneously, with sound judgment and discretion.

  • Preferred experience includes 10+ years in a relevant field, 3+ years in financial services or a related regulated industry, and familiarity with housing, mortgage finance, banking, consumer finance, fintech, or broader financial services policy issues.
