Delta is looking for a leader to leverage advanced analytics and data analysis to understand the needs of a varied workforce from a total health (physical, mental health and social/family) perspective and partner across the organization to create a strategy to ensure best-in-class health and wellness programs, utilizing new technologies, artificial intelligence, data strategies and innovative partnerships.

This position will report to the Chief Health Officer, lead a team of data scientists and analytics experts, and partner with teams in human resources, corporate safety, operations, data analytics/science, customer experience, information technology, innovation, and strategy.

Summary of core responsibilities:

  • Support and execute the Delta Flight Plan for our people, our customers, our partners and communities, and our owners
  • Support the long-term Health and Wellness Strategy leveraging advanced analytics, innovation and best practices in Corporate Health Programs
  • Establish and lead team with capabilities to conduct analyses of wellness and population health data sources 
  • Develop reporting and visualizations to support decision making and partnership with stakeholders
  • Establish data sources needed to support wellness and population health analytics
  • Identify gaps and opportunities to enhance health and wellbeing of our employees and to ensure the highest quality care including outcomes, safety, experience, access, equity and timeliness
  • Partner with HR to optimize health benefits including health benefit plan design, health rewards, and healthy behaviors
  • Leverage health data analytics platform to inform business unit strategies, partnering with external entities to identify proven solutions and best practices in corporate safety, operations and employee health
  • Leverage artificial intelligence, machine learning, technology, wearables, and personalized health data to enhance health and wellbeing 
  • Provide analytics and insights to partner with HR Total Rewards and benefits team on the design and evaluation novel approaches to health benefit design and innovate approaches to employee health and well being 
  • Test new models of healthcare delivery and develop approaches to continuously measure employee perception of healthcare, health and wellbeing
  • Partner with external companies providing new and novel approaches to health including leveraging wearables and multiple sources of data to improve health and wellbeing

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

  • PhD or equivalent in health services research, population health, statistics, public health, or healthcare administration and 10 years of experience using advanced analytics for clinical and claims databases and leading advanced analytics teams including PhD and master’s level data scientists, and data programmers
  • Extensive experience identifying gaps in healthcare delivery/equity/population health, designing and evaluating interventions and innovations, and deploying interventions at scale
  • Track record of success working in a highly matrixed organization partnering with teams across multiple business units 
  • Strong interpersonal skills – able to work effectively and build consensus with fellow employees, senior leaders, and external organizations
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; able to produce strategic, concise documents and presentations for senior leaders and external audiences in a clear and compelling manner
  • Proficient in data analysis, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint and comfortable learning new technology solutions that may be required 
  • Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data. 
  • Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles. 
  • Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency. 
  • Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.
  • Demonstrated experience and proficiency leading Corporate or Divisional level programs:
    • Ability to integrate a broad range of internal and external factors when making decisions and the ability to work under uncertainty 
    • Process orientated with excellent organizational and project management skills
    • Ability to analyze complex problems or trends and develop innovative solutions
    • Critical thinker with an ability to navigate ambiguity
    • Capable of working under pressure and managing several projects consecutively
