Description

Summary: The Director of Homesharing provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the organizations Homesharing Program, which matches homeowners with individuals seeking affordable housing while promoting housing stability, aging in place, and community connection. The Director is responsible for program design, implementation, compliance, financial management, staff supervision, community partnerships, and continuous quality improvement.

The Director ensures the program meets organizational goals, funder requirements, and applicable regulations while delivering exceptional service to homeowners and home seekers. This position collaborates extensively with community organizations, government agencies, healthcare providers, housing partners, and philanthropic organizations to expand access to safe, affordable shared housing opportunities.

The Director is responsible for leading a team of counselors in helping clients find an affordable housing alternative. The Director oversees all elements of the Homesharing Department, including program development, management, execution, analysis, evaluation, innovation/ refinement and internal and external partnership management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Program Leadership

Develop and implement strategic plans for the Homesharing Program consistent with the organizations mission Develop annual budget, monitor program expenditures, oversee grant reporting, and review financials regularly to ensure fiscal responsibility and compliance Establish annual program goals, performance metrics, and outcome measures Oversee all aspects of Home Seekers and Home Providers recruitment, including interviews, background screening, matching, placement, and ongoing support Verify all paperwork necessary to qualify interested applicants Ensure program operations align with organizational policies and best practices In consultation with internal leaders and/or external partners, evaluate program effectiveness and recommend improvements Expand program capacity and geographic reach through strategic initiatives Oversee the department's database structure to maintain database integrity, accuracy, security, and performance efficiency Ensure services are delivered professionally, equitably, consistently and in adherence with all organizational policies and guidelines Conduct periodic file reviews and quality assurance audits

Staff Leadership and Supervision

Recruit, supervise, mentor, and evaluate program staff; establish performance expectations, analyze key performance indicators, provide coaching and feedback, evaluate performance and recommend corrective action if/when necessary Foster a collaborative, mission-driven work environment Develop staff training plans, and work with individual staff to identify professional development opportunities Conduct regular supervision meetings and performance evaluations Ensure staff maintain accurate documentation and timely service delivery

Program Operations

Oversee all aspects of participant services, including:

Home provider & home seeker recruitment Intake and eligibility determination Background screenings Home safety assessments Compatibility interviews Match facilitation Written homesharing agreements Conflict resolution, ongoing monitoring and support Program exits and evaluations

Community Outreach and Partnership Development

Represent the organization throughout the community by:

Building partnerships with senior centers, hospitals, universities, disability organizations, veteran organizations, housing providers, and local governments Delivering public presentations and participating in community events Developing referral networks Serving on community coalitions related to housing and aging

Financial Management

Develop and manage the Homesharing Program budget Assist with grant development and funding proposals Prepare grant reports and program performance reports Monitor contract compliance Identify new funding opportunities

Data Management and Reporting

Monitor program performance using data management systems Analyze trends and participant outcomes Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports Track key performance indicators Present program results to executive leadership, funders, and the Board of Directors

Strategic Planning

Identify opportunities for program expansion Evaluate emerging best practices in homesharing Recommend policy changes Participate in organizational strategic planning, and support cross-departmental initiatives

Qualifications: Core Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in social work, public administration, human services, community development or similar; or equivalent experience in related field Minimum of five to seven years of progressively responsible experience in affordable housing, homeless services, case management, reentry programs and/or human services Knowledge of data collection methods and statistics, and an ability to analyze and interpret data in order to inform decision making At least three years of supervisory or management experience Experience working with diverse populations, including returning citizens, aging populations, youth and young adults from varying economic, social and ethnic backgrounds Experience in creating and implementing annual operating plans and budgets Possesses ability to establish effective rapport and working relationships A highly collaborative individual who values networking and forming informal and formal partnerships with external service providers Ability to manage conflict and de-escalate high-pressure situations Commitment to St. Ambrose's mission, vision, values and goals Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills Must have a valid driver's license, a reliable vehicle, and auto insurance Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and solve complex problems creatively

Desired Qualifications:

Master's degree in a related field; 7-10 years of related experience, including at least five years in a supervisory capacity Possesses enhanced leadership skills and experience to motivate and obtain optimum staff performance Mediation or conflict resolution training Experience with nonprofit housing organizations and/or Community Housing Development organizations

Physical Requirements: This position normally requires the physical demands of standing, walking, bending, lifting or performing other work requiring medium exertion, talking, and hearing on a regular basis to perform the job requirement. These physical demands are required up to 85% of the time.

Working Conditions: This position operates in a hybrid office and community-based environment requiring regular travel to participant homes, community meetings, partner agencies, and organizational events. Evening and occasional weekend hours may be required.
