The Director for Innovation and Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is responsible for the leadership and oversight of two key, related teams within the Workforce Development & Innovation Division (WDI): The Innovation Team and the Small Business Development Center (SBDC).
The Director of Innovation and SBDC has College-wide responsibilities in implementing the recommendations of the Pima CC Innovation Framework and supporting innovation across the College. The Director of Innovation and SBDC ensures the department delivers business counseling and training to small businesses in Pima and Santa Cruz counties, via a Federal SBA grant, College, and other funding.
The Director of Innovation and SBDC is responsible for providing the overall vision and leadership for the SBDC team in attaining its Arizona SBDC Network goals (AZSBDC) and oversees the SBDC Center's day-to-day operations and staff members.
The work schedule for this position is flexible and may include working evenings and weekends and local travel. - Develops, manages and implements service functions associated with the SBDC including both long and short-term business counseling, seminars, workshops, classes, business programs, and consultant advisory services to small business owners and entrepreneurs
- Advises business owners and prospective business owners who are SBDC clients
- Provides business assistance services in accordance with U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) guidelines and procedures
- Promotes for-profit business growth, expansion, innovation, increased productivity, sustainability, and management improvement in Pima County and Santa Cruz County
- Manages daily operations of the Center to meet SBDC program objectives and contractual obligations
- Serves as a liaison between Pima Community College and local, State, and Federal organizations, both public and private that are involved with the improvement of the business climate
- Assures alignment with the College's workforce and economic development priorities and compliance with the College's internal policies and procedures
- Prepares periodic reports as required by U.S. Small Business Administration and the AZSBDC Network State Office and maintains records on compliance with the State contract and U.S. Circulars
- Develops and implements the SBDC budget with the College according to College guidelines and SBA guidelines
- Prepares documents regarding funding requests; obtains additional available funds to supplement available resources
- Supervises, trains, mentors, and evaluates staff members
- Provides direction for new and ongoing projects
- Continually drives toward the annual production goals as assigned by AZSBDC Network and Pima Community College
- Manages and maintains a client portfolio
- Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor
- Bachelor's degree in related field and
- Five to eight years of related experience and
- Three plus years of supervisory experience and
- Valid Arizona driver license
or - An equivalent combination of certification, education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above
Preferred:- Master's degree in a related field of study
- Eight plus years of related experience
