The Opportunity

Fireclay Partners is seeking an Investment Banking Director to join its Kansas City team. This full-time, in-person role combines senior transaction leadership, client ownership, team development, and business generation.

Required Transaction Background

Current or prior professional investment-banking experience involving live M&A or capital-raising transactions is required. We will consider private-equity professionals and senior corporate-development candidates only when they have personally executed multiple transactions. FP&A, accounting, consulting, business development, startup strategy, or general finance experience alone does not satisfy this requirement.

What You'll Do

• Originate and develop investment-banking opportunities through established relationships and disciplined coverage activity.

• Lead buy-side and sell-side M&A and capital-raising engagements from initial strategy through closing.

• Own senior client relationships, transaction positioning, negotiations, and critical communications.

• Oversee valuation, modeling, marketing materials, diligence, buyer and investor outreach, and process execution.

• Lead Vice Presidents, associates, analysts, and interns while setting clear standards for quality and accountability.

What You Bring

• At least eight years of qualifying professional transaction experience.

• A credible completed-transaction record demonstrating senior responsibility for execution and client outcomes.

• Evidence of business development, relationship ownership, and the ability to generate and convert opportunities.

• Strong command of accounting, valuation, financial modeling, negotiation, diligence, and transaction strategy.

• Experience leading teams and communicating with business owners, executives, boards, investors, and advisers.

• A strong academic and professional record.

• Authorization to work in the United States and ability to work full-time in person in downtown Kansas City. Candidates outside the market must be willing to relocate.

Working with AI at Fireclay

Advanced practical proficiency with AI in a professional environment is required. You should be able to use approved AI tools to improve research, coverage preparation, written materials, analysis, process management, and repeatable workflows while exercising senior judgment and maintaining rigorous quality control. You remain accountable for every deliverable and must protect client, deal, personal, and proprietary information.
