Directs all work performed in the Laboratory. Is responsible for administrative, technical, and scientific oversight of the Laboratory. This includes day-to-day supervision of testing personnel, reporting of test results, Quality Control, and Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement procedures. Has responsibility for the fiscal budget and is accountable for achieving the department's budgetary goals; interacts closely with other facility staff and department heads to ensure safe, quality care and that testing is provided in accordance with corporate, facility and departmental standards. This position participates on committees and task forces; is responsible for the formulation, review and assistance in revision of policies and procedures; provides oversight of quality processes and compliance and participates in special projects
Effectively plans the goals, objectives, and workflow of the clinical laboratory to achieve optimal performance.
Successfully meets department productivity goals by scheduling staff according to workload.
Assures the laboratory is compliant with all regulatory agencies (CAP, AABB, JCAHO, CLIA, etc.) requirements.
Prepares quality assurance data in a timely manner.
Effectively keeps abreast of changes in laboratory medicine and keeps BHSR laboratory current with these changes.
Evaluates the capital equipment needs of the laboratory and makes responsible recommendations for procurement.
Assures laboratory billing issues and errors are corrected in a timely manner.
Promotes the laboratory out-reach program and successfully procures new clients.
Assures the laboratory meets corporate compliance policies.
Appropriately implements solutions based on accurate and timely statistical and financial data
Effectively promotes, encourages, and provides continuing education opportunities for laboratory staff.
Manages departmental inventory, ordering, storage, and utilization as appropriate
Represents the department at appropriate meetings and/or committees and actively participates in the facility's' PI program
Works diligently to recruit and retain competent staff in the department and effectively manages staff disciplinary actions.

Bachelor's Degree, Medical Technology or related science
State of Florida Clinical Lab Supervisor license
Five (5) years management/supervisory laboratory experience.
Technical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Interaction with the public and medical/nursing personnel, making decisions under pressure, handling multiple priorities, and managing stress appropriately.
