Title Director, Massachusetts Aggression Reduction Center (MARC)-Internal Only Department Summary

Position Summary
Oversee all academic, administrative, and outreach operations for MARC. Design higher education and K-12 curricula focused on violence, bullying, and digital behaviors. Train undergraduate and graduate students to facilitate and deliver specialized social-emotional learning (SEL) training statewide to K-12 faculty, students, and administrators. Nurture collaborative relationships with other state and national institutions (e.g., the Office of Public Safety, the State Legislature, colleagues at other universities), while managing program scheduling, supervising clerical staff, and collaborating with campus entities. Publish scientific research and presents research at professional conferences.
This position is an exempt, APA unit position and is subject to the terms of that union agreement.
The Schedule for this position is Monday-Friday (Saturdays and Sundays as days off, occasional evening and weekend hours may be required.)
This position is located on campus in Bridgewater, MA. This position may be eligible for hybrid work schedule in accordance with BSU remote work policy.
Essential Duties
- Lead and manage the administrative operations of the Massachusetts Aggression Reduction Center (MARC); supervise all staff assigned to MARC and serve as the university liaison to all external constituents.
- Oversee the MARC budget and all grant funding secured by the Center; manage all expenses and revenue generation, serving as a strong fiscal steward.
- Develop and maintain high-quality, research-based programs, resources, and training that supports the mission of MARC, is relevant, and equity-minded for K-12 and higher education curriculums.
- Facilitate MARC programming and train MARC staff as program facilitators.
- Regularly assess programs, resources, training, and modalities to ensure content relevance, audience connection, and engagement metrics.
- Conduct research to expand and deepen knowledge and understanding of MARC topics and remain visible as experts in the field.
- Collaborate with K-12 partners and outreach to other local entities to address training and programming needs.
- Explore possibilities for campus integration and alignment with academic departments to benefit undergraduate and graduate students.
- Represent MARC and the university at speaking events, conferences, and other programs to promote the Center's work, build relationships with partners, and diversify opportunities for engagement.
- Prepare a public relations/media strategy for MARC which reviews and maintains web sites, social media and other publications to showcase programming, resources, and training.
- Serves on university committees as assigned by the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.
- Performs related projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- An earned PhD or EdD in a related area of study.
- Minimum 10 years of experience working in higher education, with both teaching and administrator duties.
- Exceptional content knowledge about aggression, violence, bullying, and digital behaviors in children and a record of publication in scientific books or journals; minimum 10 years' experience working in education and in the field in these areas.
- Experience with public speaking, including speaking to both adults and children in educational capacities.
- Program development experience in both K-12 educational curriculum and higher education curriculum, addressing violence, prevention, digital behaviors, and other social and emotional learning topics.
- Experience training K-12 faculty, administrators, psychological staff, and students in social and emotional learning topics, with a special focus on violence prevention, bullying, and cyberbullying prevention, and digital behaviors and children.
- Experience teaching and supervising both undergraduate and graduate students, both in traditional classroom settings and especially in service-learning settings.
- Experience training graduate students in public speaking, program development, and research.
- Experience collaborating with related entities on campus that are focused on social and emotional learning in higher education and in K through 12 education.
- Experience with scheduling and processing program requests for K through 12 education.
- Experience supervising and collaborating with clerical staff and student workers.
- Ability to work with a diversity of people, thoughts, and perspectives.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
