This position is a remote position with significant travel (over 30% travel) required.

The Opportunity

The Director, Member Engagement is the primary relationship and risk manager for a portfolio of Partner Food Banks and their Affiliate Food Banks, which typically comprises over 1,000 staff, executives and board members; over 500M meals distributed each year; and over $250M in network assets. The Director ensures mutual accountability and risk mitigation among Partner Food Banks and Affiliate Food Banks by assessing adherence to contractual requirements, as well as federal, state, and local regulations. The Director manages the overall alignment of their portfolio to current and future standards or regulations. The Director facilitates the implementation of capacity building work for their portfolio by introducing long-term capacity initiatives and by building productive relationships throughout all Network Member organizations including the Board of Directors, senior leadership, and staff.

Compensation

As such, we maintain transparent salary ranges and clearly defined practices for how our team, including new hire salary offers, moves through these ranges. You can expect us to offer the best salary up front based on these clearly defined pay practices with little room for negotiation. We make exceptions for highly experienced (multiple years of at-level experience) new hires in accordance with our pay practices. Once hired, employees have the opportunity to progress through salary ranges via regular merit increases and step promotions.

Salary Range: $116,302 - $121,302 Based on Experience

Responsibilities:

Portfolio Relationship Management & Risk Mitigation

• Leads education, interpretation, and implementation of the Partner Food Bank Agreement, Affiliate Food Bank Agreement and Network Charter with Network Members and the Feeding America National Organization.
• Leads strategic adoption of changes in Network Standards, Network Agreements, and related requirements that affect the Network.
• Leads Network Standards Reviews with Partner Food Banks, assesses each organization's adherence to the Partner Food Bank Agreement and directs corrective action strategy to mitigate enterprise risk.
• Ensures and supports Partner Food Banks in conducting and completing Network Standards Reviews with Affiliate Food Banks in their portfolios.
• Develops enduring relationships with executive leaders and organizations built on trust, communication, and mutual understanding to identify member needs and create appropriate action plans.
• Synthesizes qualitative and quantitative data, reports, and opportunities to provide tailored member solutions. Works with members that are not meeting agreement standards to identify underlying issues and support development of action plans to remedy identified areas.
• Identifies, evaluates, collects, elevates and shares promising, best, and next practices to build capacity across the Network.
• Collaborates with the Director, Member Engagement - Strategic Initiatives on key projects as applicable.
• Collaborates with the Food Safety team to support safe handling and distribution of products.
• Leads support for resolution of conflicts and grievances with Network Members in accordance with applicable Network Agreements.
• Advises Boards of Directors and Executive Leadership on the recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing support of Board Members, CEOs, executive/senior leadership, and staff. Provides orientation and ongoing consultation for CEOs/Executive Directors. Advises Boards of Directors on principles of effective governance and provides relevant resources.

Cross-Functional Leadership

• Translates Member and portfolio insights to internal and external constituents in engagements and in evaluating opportunities to inform enterprise planning, prioritization, and decision-making.
• Serves as a connector, leading and influencing cross-functional alignment, by representing Member Engagement on internal and external committees. Develops and leads learning presentations, discussions, tools and guidance that incorporate Member perspectives and needs where appropriate.
• Develops collaborative relationships with Network Department teams and other FANO departments to elevate portfolio insights, facilitate Network Member awareness of capacity-building opportunities, and support a cohesive partner experience of FANO resources and support.

Required Experience and Qualifications:

• 10+ years' experience in supply chain, non- profit management, business, consulting or related fields.
• Ability to analyze data, identify patterns, incorporate historical and environmental context, to derive organization insights.
• Strong knowledge of best practices in business management and organizational effectiveness.
• Ability to navigate conflicts, manage respectful communication and identify solutions.
• Proficient in MS Office applications.

Preferred Experience:

• 5+ years' experience in charitable food systems preferred.
• Proficient in Salesforce preferred.
