This position is for a full-time 12 -month, unclassified, in-person staff position located on-site at our Bossier Campus.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required with emphasis or comparable experience in a STEM field, marketing, management or related area; master's degree preferred.
- Program development and experience with underserved and underrepresented populations.
- Demonstrated ability to engage, inspire and advocate for STEM interests and activities.
- Knowledge of STEM education, workforce, and community partnerships within the identified region.
- Understanding and ability to effectively navigate the local and state political landscape.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear and handle or feel objects and controls.
- Must have physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office equipment such as, but not limited to, personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine.
- Capable of lifting and carrying equipment and materials up to 50 pounds.

Job Specification
The Director of the Northwest LaSTEM Innovation Center (Region 7) is an unclassified position reporting to the Dean of Academic Affairs for the Division of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Based at the Bossier City campus of Bossier Parish Community College, this position plays a vital role in advancing STEM education and innovation across the region. The Director leads efforts to coordinate, promote, and expand STEM Council activities and Regional Advisory Committee initiatives, while fostering partnerships with K-12 schools, postsecondary institutions, industry, and community stakeholders. Aligned with BPCC's commitment to cultivating STEM enthusiasm from an early age, the Director supports initiatives that encourage hands-on learning, spark curiosity, and strengthen the pipeline of future scientists, engineers, and innovators. The Director will work to expand access to high-quality STEM experiences for learners across the region, with a focus on reaching rural populations, justice-involved individuals, and others who may face barriers to participation in STEM pathways.
Job Duties and Other Information
- Implement STEM programs throughout the region to meet the regional demands of the workforce.
- Identify, collaborate, and provide support for new STEM programs and scale-ups/optimizations of existing STEM programs within the region.
- Ensure accurate data gathering, analysis, action plans, and achieving identified benchmarks set by the council and regional advisory committee.
- Maintain updated financial records and prepare detailed financial reports for the Regional STEM Advisory Committee and the LaSTEM Program Administrator.
- Meets contractual deadlines and, when unable to do so, communicates in a timely fashion any intervening circumstances.
- Communicate Regional STEM Council activities and updates regularly to the region, using various resources such as social media, periodic newsletters, Regional STEM website, media engagements (radio, television, social media, print), speaking engagements, and others.
- Convene the Regional STEM Advisory Committee at least six times per year and post agendas to the Regional STEM website along with meeting summaries and members in attendance for the purposes (of): leveraging the group to communicate throughout the region; to promote discussion and prompt relevant feedback to issues and opportunities; to oversee budget and program decisions; to other inform progress; and to engage as volunteers in regional and statewide LaSTEM Council events and programs.
- Provide leadership to the LaSTEM Advisory Council by serving the broader state mission beyond Region 7.
- Establish working relationships with STEM-related business and industry, workforce, economic development, school-to-career, trade/professional, early childhood, preK-12 schools, community colleges, out-of-school time organizations, intermediaries, public and private colleges and universities, and cultural and community organizations in the region, cataloguing their contributions to STEM education and their STEM workforce needs.
- Lead planning, partnering, and publicity to organize family/community STEM events, and provide impact evidence (including location, attendance, partners, programs, budget, effects on knowledge or attitudes) of those events.
- Pursue external funding sources to augment and support STEM efforts of the Regional STEM Center and throughout the region. Report any activity conducted.
- Other duties as assigned by the Dean.
