Our client in Columbia, MD is seeking a strategic, hands‑on Director of Accounting to lead all accounting and financial operations for a growing, mission‑driven non-profit service organization with $25–$27 million. This is a highly visible role offering direct access to the Executive Director and Board, with meaningful influence over financial strategy, operations, and long‑term growth.

What You’ll Do as a Director of Accounting:

• 
  
• Oversee all accounting, budgeting, reporting, and financial analysis
• 
  
• Prepare annual operating budgets and interim financial reports
• 
  
• Ensure GAAP compliance, strong internal controls, and audit readiness
• 
  
• Manage monthly close, general ledger, debt service, taxes, and insurance
• 
  
• Coordinate the annual financial statement audit and Medicare Cost Report
• 
  
• Lead, develop, and support the finance team
• 
  
• Serve as a trusted partner to leadership and the Board
• 
  

Director of Accounting Qualifications:

• 
  
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration
• 
  
• CPA preferred
• 
  
• 8-10+years progressive accounting and finance experience with proven management experience
• 
  
• Senior living or hospitality industry experience
• 
  
• Strong GAAP knowledge and financial leadership experience
• 
  
• Ability to work independently with sound judgment and discretion
• 
  
• Detail‑oriented, accurate, and collaborative communicator
•
