Title:Director of Accounting Department:Finance and OperationsReports To:Vice President, Finance and OperationsFLSA Classification:Salaried/ExemptPosition Status:Full-TimeEffective Date:07/14/2026 JOB SUMMARY The Director of Accounting is responsible for performing professional-level accounting functions, including auditing, analyzing, reconciling, and preparing financial reports. ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Plans, manages, and oversees the daily functions, operations, and activities of the accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, and general accounting functions.Responsible for monthly accounting and annual reporting.Prepares closing entries and schedules.Responsible for month-end and year-end close Work closely with auditors during year-end audit Perform other related duties as assigned.Commitment to uphold the Seminary's mission, vision, and values. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Direct reports include Accounts Payable Technician and General Accounting TechnicianResponsible for hiring, training, coaching, managing personnel, planning, assigning, delegating, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or relevant field; Master's degree preferredA minimum of 4 years' experience in accounting principles or related work experienceIn-depth knowledge of accounting software, corporate principles, and financial analysisStrong writing and verbal communication skillsStrong attention to detail and ability to multi-taskStrong organizational, regulatory, and record-keeping skillsHave or develop a detailed understanding of non-profit accounting and reportingAbility to work independently and cross-functionallyAbility to prioritize tasks and work efficiently with minimal supervisionEasily adaptable to change CRITICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
