Alliance Resource Group is partnered with a venture-backed advanced technology company in the South Bay on their search for a Sr. Manager or Director of Accounting. The company recently closed a significant funding round at a multi-billion-dollar valuation and is in a high-growth phase.

This is a founding accounting seat and the second accounting hire on staff, reporting directly to the Corporate Controller. The role is hands-on day one with a "no job too small" mindset, with a clear path to scaling into a leader with a team underneath as the function grows. The right person is a builder with clear, specific examples of software implementations or process builds they led end-to-end and brought to ongoing use.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead the month-end close process, including journal entry preparation and review, account reconciliations, and financial analysis to deliver accurate and timely financials
  • Own the general ledger and evolve reporting segments and financial structure as the business scales
  • Prepare internal reporting packages for leadership and investors, and support annual financial statement preparation and coordination with external auditors and tax advisors
  • Serve as the in-house accounting expert on operational and technical matters, translating accounting requirements into clear guidance for non-finance partners
  • Identify and drive opportunities to automate and streamline accounting workflows, including documentation of desktop procedures, system architecture, and process and control narratives
  • Lead or support system implementations and expansions across ERP, AP automation, and expense management, with audit-readiness and scalability in mind
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies and internal controls
  • Partner cross-functionally with Finance, HR, Engineering, Warehousing, and Operations to strengthen data quality and improve upstream processes

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, including hands-on ownership of month-end close and financial reporting
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and general accounting principles
  • Experience at a startup, high-growth company, or similarly fast-paced environment with proven ability to build processes from scratch
  • Builder mindset with clear, specific examples of leading a software implementation or process build from scoping through optimization
  • Self-starter with excellent organizational skills and high tolerance for ambiguity
  • Strong communicator who can work effectively across non-finance teams

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • CPA
  • Public accounting background (Big 4 or strong regional firm), ideally exited as a senior or manager
  • Experience supporting or leading an ERP implementation, particularly NetSuite
  • Exposure to a VC-backed company and familiarity with investor reporting requirements
  • Experience supporting external audits or audit preparation
  • Background in hard tech, manufacturing, or similarly operationally complex industry
