Company Overview:
A fast-growing entertainment company based in Orlando is seeking a Director of Accounting to lead its accounting and financial reporting function. The organization operates across multiple consumer-facing channels, delivering high-quality live and digital experiences while continuing to scale its footprint and offerings. The company is focused on operational excellence, financial discipline, and creating memorable customer experiences.
Position Overview:
The Director of Accounting is a key finance leadership role responsible for overseeing all accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls. This individual will ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial statements while supporting business growth in a dynamic, fast-paced entertainment environment.
The role requires a hands-on leader who can manage day-to-day accounting activities while driving process improvements, supporting audits, and partnering closely with cross-functional teams including FP&A and operations.
Key Responsibilities
Lead all accounting functions, including general ledger, revenue recognition, AP/AR, fixed assets, and month-end close.
Oversee the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
Direct financial reporting, variance analysis, and internal reporting packages for leadership.
Manage revenue recognition processes, particularly across ticketing, events, and other consumer-facing revenue streams.
Establish and maintain strong internal controls, supporting audits and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Partner cross-functionally with FP&A, operations, and executive leadership to support growth initiatives and improve financial visibility.
Drive process improvements, automation, and system enhancements to scale the accounting function as the business grows.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; CPA strongly preferred.
8-12+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles in entertainment, media, or consumer-facing industries.
Strong expertise in GAAP, financial reporting, and revenue recognition.
Experience managing high-volume or multi-stream revenue environments is highly preferred.
Proven ability to build and lead teams while improving processes and controls.
Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle) and strong Excel proficiency.
Hands-on leader with strong analytical skills and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
