Job Summary
The Director of Admissions Operations provides leadership and oversight for the operational functions of the Office of Admissions Operations. This position is responsible for managing admissions processing activities, supervising office personnel, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of applicant and student data, and coordinating administrative processes that support enrollment goals and university policies. The Director works collaboratively with academic and administrative departments across the institution to facilitate efficient admissions services, maintain compliance with applicable regulations, prepare required reports, and provide a high level of customer service to prospective students, families, faculty, staff, and external constituents.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Direct and oversee the daily operations of the Office of Admissions Operations.
- Supervise, train, evaluate, and develop admissions operations staff and student employees.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of applications, transcripts, residency documents, test scores, and other admission-related materials.
- Oversee verification, maintenance, and quality control of applicant and student records to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
- Monitor and manage admissions workflows to ensure compliance with university policies, state and federal regulations, and established service standards.
- Utilize student information systems, admissions technologies, and reporting tools to support admissions operations and enrollment objectives.
- Prepare, analyze, and distribute admissions-related reports for university leadership, state agencies, accreditation organizations, and other internal/external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Academic Affairs, Registrar, Institutional Research, Information Technology, Financial Aid, Student Affairs, and other campus departments to support enrollment management initiatives and student success efforts.
- Serve as a resource for admissions policies, procedures, and operational requirements.
- Manages scholarship awarding for undergraduates.
- Respond to and resolve complex admissions and records issues requiring interpretation of policies and regulations.
- Develop, document, and implement operational procedures to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and customer service.
- Assist with system implementations, upgrades, testing, and process improvement initiatives related to admissions operations.
- Support strategic enrollment initiatives through data analysis, reporting, and operational planning.
- Ensure a welcoming, student-centered environment that promotes exceptional customer service.
- Serve on university committees and work groups as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors degree from an accredited institution.
- Demonstrated evidence of progressively responsible experience in admissions, enrollment management, student services, records management, higher education administration, or a related field.
- Experience supervising and leading professional and/or support staff.
- Experience working with database systems and administrative software applications.
- Strong analytical, organizational, policy interpretation, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and external constituents.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet established deadlines.
