DESCRIPTION:   

Edmonds College is seeking a full-time director for our Allied Health Education (AHE) programs. Under the general direction of the Dean of the School of Healthcare and Human Services, this position provides leadership and management to the Allied Health Education department and supports special projects. Allied Health programs include degrees and certificates as well as continuing education to support the needs of employers in healthcare industries. Special projects may include the development of new programs, grant projects, and other opportunities that support the mission of the college.  


The position will work collaboratively with faculty and staff in the Allied Health Education, Nursing, and Integrated Healthcare Management BAS programs, as well as with other departments in the School of Healthcare and Human Services, and with private and public sector individuals, companies, and agencies in the field of healthcare. 


This is an exempt position reporting to the Dean of the School of Healthcare and Human Services.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Assist in providing leadership and direction for the ongoing strategic planning for the Allied Health Education (AHE) department and participate in the strategic college planning process as appropriate.
  • Develop and monitor plans to ensure the long-term vitality of AHE programs, assess enrollment trends, and make recommendations for program scheduling.
  • Monitor and evaluate healthcare industry needs and trends, including technology and the impact of Artificial Intelligence on the field, and assist in the development of new programs.
  • Facilitate cooperation and collaboration between related programs that support the healthcare industry at Edmonds College, including Nursing, Integrated Healthcare Management, and healthcare related programs in the School of STEM.
  • Provide ongoing advising and academic planning to supplement faculty advising and support student success and retention.
  • Assist faculty with development of clinical affiliation agreements, shepherd them through the college approval process, and maintain a database of current clinical sites and contacts. 
  • Work with grant personnel to monitor grant opportunities, make recommendations for grant applications, participate in preparation of grant proposals, and assist with ongoing grant management tasks as needed.
  • Coordinate and participate in allied health community outreach activities, including business partnerships; student and staff recruitment; articulation with high schools, regional occupational programs, and other institutions of higher education.
  • Develop and implement marketing efforts for AHE that complements the college-wide marketing efforts, and monitor website development and program mapping. 
  • Perform other responsibilities and projects as needed. 


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education in an allied health profession, or related field.
  • A minimum of four years clinical experience in a healthcare profession, including two years of administrative/management experience.
  • Two or more years of teaching or training experience with adult learners.
  • Experience in project or grant management, including the ability to analyze data, monitor budgets, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to contribute to a team environment and communicate effectively with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Proficient with computer technology skills for Word, Excel, and Google Calendar, Docs, Sheets and Drive.
  • Experience developing, marketing, and evaluating programs in a business context is highly preferred for this role.

PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is typically performed in an office setting, and onsite/in-person. The ability to sit at a desk/computer station, bend, stoop, walk and generally move around the office to consult with others, work within a busy environment and remain focused on tasks. Excellent communication skills are essential. This includes the ability to speak clearly and fully comprehend written and spoken English and will include communication with people for whom English is not their first language. This also includes the ability to produce clearly written documents. Those who are multilingual are strongly encouraged to apply. 

 

WORK SCHEDULE:

40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. May require some flexibility in work schedules, including occasional evenings or weekends. 


COMPENSATION:   

Salary is $77,958 - $85,880 and is based on the Edmonds College administrative/exempt salary schedule, plus a full state benefits package, which includes tuition waivers for college classes, medical, dental, retirement options and more. Vacation and leave package includes 12 sick days per year, 11 scheduled holidays, 1 personal holiday, and 24 vacation leave days per year.
