The School District of Beloit is seeking a Director of Athletics & Activities to provide strategic leadership, supervision, and administration for all middle school and high school athletic programs and co-curricular activities within the district. This position ensures programs align with district goals, Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) regulations, and state and federal laws, while promoting student achievement, equity, sportsmanship, and community engagement. The Director is responsible for developing a comprehensive, inclusive, and high-quality athletics and activities program that supports the academic, social, emotional, and physical development of all students.

What You''ll Do:

  • Provide vision, direction, and continuous improvement for all middle and high school athletics and co-curricular activities.

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive K-12 activities program aligned with district strategic priorities.

  • Foster a culture of sportsmanship, equity, inclusion, and student-centered decision-making.

  • Ensure programs support student engagement, leadership development, and academic success.

  • Ensure full compliance with WIAA rules and regulations, DPI requirements, Title IX, and all applicable federal and state laws.

  • Serve as the district's liaison to WIAA, conference affiliations, and governing bodies.

  • Maintain accurate eligibility, participation, and compliance records.

  • Oversee investigations and resolution of eligibility, conduct, and compliance issues.

  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate all coaches, advisors, and activity staff.

  • Provide ongoing professional development focused on coaching effectiveness, student safety, and inclusive practices.

  • Ensure staff adherence to district policies, ethical standards, and expectations.

  • Support principals in supervision and evaluation of building-level athletic and activity programs.

  • Develop and manage the athletics and activities budget in alignment with district priorities.

  • Oversee purchasing, inventory, and maintenance of equipment and uniforms.

  • Monitor revenues and expenditures, including gate receipts and fundraising activities.

  • Seek and manage sponsorships, partnerships, and grants to support programming.

  • Coordinate all athletic schedules, transportation, facilities usage, and event logistics.

  • Oversee game management, including staffing, security, officials, and event supervision.

  • Ensure safe and effective operation of all athletic facilities.

  • Collaborate with facilities and maintenance teams regarding field and facility.

What You''ll Bring:

Education & Certification

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Athletic Administration, Sports Management, or a closely related field (required).

  • Master's degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, Sports Management, or related field (preferred).

  • Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) Administrator License (or eligibility to obtain within a defined timeline) preferred.

  • Valid Wisconsin driver's license.

  • Certification in CPR/AED and First Aid (required or willingness to obtain upon hire).

Experience

  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in athletics, education, or related leadership roles.

  • Prior experience as an athletic director, activities director, dean, or school administrator strongly preferred.

  • Demonstrated successful experience as a coach and/or advisor at the middle school and/or high school level.

  • Experience with budget development, fiscal management, and resource allocation.

  • Experience supervising, evaluating, and developing staff.

  • Experience working within a public school system and familiarity with Wisconsin school operations preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Extensive knowledge of WIAA rules, regulations, eligibility requirements, and conference governance.

  • Strong understanding of Title IX compliance, equity requirements, and student rights in athletics and activities.

  • Knowledge of risk management practices, student safety protocols, and emergency response procedures.

  • Ability to develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive athletic and co-curricular programs.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and support staff and students.

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage complex schedules and competing priorities.

  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with diverse stakeholders.

  • Ability to analyze data and use it to inform decision-making and continuous improvement.

  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practices.
