About the Role

The Behavior Support Services Director is a high-level managerial position responsible for leading Clarvida’s regional Behavioral Support Service Program across a multi-county area in Pennsylvania. This role supports adults with intellectual disabilities who are experiencing behavioral difficulties and operates with a high degree of independence in accordance with corporate policies, procedures, and applicable program regulations.

The Behavior Support Services Director provides administrative and clinical oversight to master’s- and bachelor’s-level Behavior Support Specialists, oversees the development and implementation of Behavior Support Plans, manages program operations and financial performance, and maintains positive relationships with administrative entities, families, and community partners. This position reports to the Chief Operating Officer and requires extensive travel throughout northeast and central Pennsylvania.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a Behavioral Support Service Program across a multi-county area to support adults with intellectual disabilities experiencing behavioral difficulties
• Oversee functional assessments and the development of strategies to support consumers experiencing behavioral difficulties
• Develop and provide ongoing review of Behavior Support Plans and Restrictive Procedures Plans
• Design plans that incorporate positive practices and support strategies in collaboration with consumers, families, and team members
• Provide administrative and clinical oversight to master’s- and bachelor’s-level Behavior Support Specialists
• Supervise Behavioral Support Services staff and ensure Behavior Support Plans are followed appropriately
• Ensure staff understand their responsibilities and comply with goals established through individual consumer assessments
• Ensure training is provided to staff, family members, and consumers so all aspects of Behavior Support Plans are understood and implemented appropriately
• Monitor the progress of Behavior Support Plans and make revisions as needed
• Monitor program expenses and income throughout the multi-county service area
• Review monthly operating statements to ensure expenses and revenues align with budgetary expectations
• Discuss budgetary variances with leadership and recommend corrective actions for areas that are not meeting expectations
• Ensure documentation and recordkeeping are accurate, current, and maintained in compliance with program regulations, county, state, and federal reporting requirements, and corporate policies and procedures
• Review program schedules to ensure actual hours worked align with planned program hours
• Monitor staff utilization to maximize human resources within budgetary requirements and minimize the use of overtime
• Make schedule adjustments and take corrective action when necessary in accordance with corporate policies and procedures
• Serve as a liaison with administrative entities and maintain positive relationships with administrative officials, families, and the community
• Collaborate with the Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) trainer to review and develop training strategies aligned with functional behavior analysis principles and practices
• Develop training vignettes for use during NCI training
• Respond effectively and appropriately to sensitive inquiries, complaints, high-emotional-intensity situations, and emergencies
• Exercise independent judgment in establishing priorities and completing projects and follow-up activities without direct supervision
• Maintain a positive and understanding attitude toward coworkers and individuals receiving services
• Make sound judgments regarding the health and welfare of consumers
• Work cooperatively and ethically as part of a team while supporting a safe, positive, and clean work environment
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned based on program and organizational needs

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Human Services or a closely related field
• At least four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in a supervisory or managerial capacity
• Pennsylvania Licensed Behavior Specialist (LBS)
• Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license with a good driving record
• Ability to travel extensively throughout northeast and central Pennsylvania
• Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to learn and navigate Pennsylvania programmatic portals, including HCSIS and PROMISe
• Ability to navigate the Avatar Electronic Health Record system and teach others how to use the system
• Clear written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain instructions effectively
• Ability to use Microsoft Excel to support mathematical and financial work
• Ability to interpret instructional bulletins and training materials and translate information into day-to-day work responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications:

• Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)

Work Location

Pennsylvania – This position works across a multi-county service area, with a work environment that is largely community-based and may include office settings, facility-based settings, and residential homes. Extensive travel throughout northeast and central Pennsylvania is required.

The position may involve standing, walking, sitting, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and other physical movements. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
