GENERAL SUMMARY
The Director of Branch Operations / Security Officer is responsible for leading all branch operations while serving as the designated Security Officer for the credit union. This role focuses on driving branch performance, member service, sales culture, loan production support, operational efficiency, security administration, compliance, and staff development.
This position partners closely with the Vice President of Lending to support loan growth, cross-sales, deposit growth, and branch production goals while ensuring all branches operate efficiently, securely, and in compliance with credit union policies and regulations.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee daily branch and teller operations across all locations.
- Drive a high-energy sales and service culture focused on loan production, member growth, and cross-selling.
- Coach and develop branch staff to achieve operational, service, and production goals.
- Monitor branch performance metrics, staffing efficiencies, and operational workflows.
- Support lending growth initiatives in partnership with the Vice President of Lending.
- Serve as the designated Security Officer for the credit union.
- Oversee branch security, operational controls, audits, and facility safety.
- Ensure compliance with all operational and security-related regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Schedule and coordinate branch maintenance and repairs
- Assist with hiring of various roles for branches as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Live the credit union’s Mission, Vision, and Values within the organization and the communities we serve.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and accountability to branch managers, teller staff, and operational employees.
- Promote a world-class member service and sales culture focused on loan growth, deposit growth, and relationship building.
- Assist branches in achieving consumer loan, deposit, and cross-sale production goals.
- Partner with lending leadership to improve branch referral performance and member conversion opportunities.
- Oversee branch staffing schedules, workflows, and operational efficiencies.
- Evaluate and improve branch operating procedures and internal controls.
- Monitor branch transaction activity, teller operations, and service standards.
- Handle escalated member concerns and operational issues.
- Develop and administer operational and security training programs for staff.
- Serve as the primary Security Officer for the credit union.
- Maintain and oversee security procedures, facility security, and operational controls.
- Coordinate teller audits, vault audits, branch security reviews, and operational audits.
- Oversee security equipment, alarm systems, camera systems, and facility safety programs.
- Assist with disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations related to branch operations and security.
- Assist executive leadership with strategic operational planning and branch growth initiatives.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the credit union’s goals and objectives.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills.
- Proven ability to build a sales and service-focused culture.
- Knowledge of branch operations, teller operations, and consumer lending processes.
- Knowledge of financial institution security procedures, audits, and operational controls.
- Strong understanding of federal and state banking and credit union regulations.
- Ability to analyze operational reports and performance metrics.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to motivate staff and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and operational software systems.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Management, or related field preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in financial institution operations, branch management, lending support, or security administration required.
Employees must comply with government and other regulations affecting the credit union industry including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act and The USA Patriot Act.
