Edward Waters College seeks qualified applicants for the Director of Career Development and Placement Services. This position supports learning through a comprehensive career services and leadership training program encompassing the following areas: employer development, career counseling, job search assistance (resume writing, cover letter writing, interviewing skills, identifying job leads, using the internet and social media, etc.), graduate school counseling, internship assistance, leadership training, civic engagement, mentoring, and other areas related to career success. These services are provided to current students and alumni. The Director will also collaborate with admissions, academic units, human resources, and alumni services to promote the career and leadership development of students. The Director is a pivotal and highly visible individual, working closely and collaboratively with faculty, staff, alumni, and parents to expand possibilities for student learning, leadership, and employment.

The successful candidate will:

• Direct a comprehensive career development program for students and alumni with the goal of helping students secure professional careers upon graduation.
• Implement a Career Readiness Certificate Program to include resume writing, etiquette dinner, cover letter writing, mock interviews, etc.
• Establish strategic goals for the office including long-range planning and assessment.
• Initiate and maintain recruiting relationships with employers for job and internships opportunities, in collaboration with department faculty.
• Assist with professional development for Divisional staff.
• Oversee campus leadership certification program, mentoring services, outside of classroom curriculum and support the overall developmental nature of these programs.
• Plan, coordinate large scale campus semester Career Fair.
• Provide students and alumni with resources to develop a comprehensive job search and related professional job documents.
• Administer and interpret career-related assessments.
• Manage annual departmental budget.
• Develop and update office publications, including web page materials, digital job board, and other online resources.
• Respond to outreach requests from the campus community.
• Develops and implements alumni mentoring programs, and career development opportunities for alumni.

The incumbent may be directed to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically delineated in this description.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master\s degree.
• A minimum of three years of experience in Career Development, Professional and Leadership Skills training, or Curriculum Development in a higher education environment or a related field.
• Must possess a strong commitment to student development and sensitivity to diverse populations.
• Must possess the ability to motivate and assist students in developing long-term goals and coordinate this effort with various campus and community constituents.
• Must possess excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Must possess exceptional organizational, planning, assessment, supervisory and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Competitive candidates will be familiar with vocational assessment instruments, career counseling techniques, career and leadership development theories and online job search strategies.
