Position Summary:


Under the leadership of the President & CEO, the Director of Community Relations & Foundation is responsible for developing and leading the organization's community engagement, philanthropic initiatives, fundraising strategies, and public relations efforts. This leader builds strong relationships with donors, community organizations, corporate partners, physicians, volunteers, board members, and internal stakeholders to advance the hospital's mission, improve community health, and support organizational growth through charitable giving. Develop and execute strategies to increase participation in the Georgia HEART Program, ensuring annual contribution goals are met through donor engagement, marketing, and community partnerships.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Education:

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Healthcare Administration, Nonprofit Management, or related field. A Master's degree preferred

  • Experience:

Minimum of 3 to 5 years of progressive leadership experience in fundraising, healthcare foundation management, community relations, nonprofit development, or philanthropy.  Experience managing major gift programs and fundraising campaigns.  Healthcare or nonprofit experience strongly preferred.

  • Licensure, Registrations & Certifications:

No state license, certification or registrations are required to perform this job.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Foundation Leadership

  • Provide strategic leadership for the hospital foundation and philanthropic initiatives.
  • Develop and execute annual fundraising plans that align with organizational priorities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with donors, board members, community leaders, and corporate partners.
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major gift donors.
  • Oversee annual giving campaigns, capital campaigns, planned giving, and employee giving initiatives.
  • Ensure proper donor recognition and stewardship practices. 

Georgia HEART Program Responsibility

  • Promote the Georgia HEART Hospital Program through strategic marketing, community education, and donor outreach initiatives.
  • Develop promotional campaigns that educate Georgia taxpayers on the benefits of redirecting their state income taxes to support the hospital through the Georgia HEART tax credit program.
  • Assist in achieving annual Georgia HEART fundraising goals by increasing awareness, cultivating donor relationships, coordinating promotional events, and supporting stewardship activities.

Fundraising & Development

  • Establish annual fundraising goals and performance metrics.
  • Develop strategies to increase charitable contributions from individuals, businesses, foundations, and community organizations.
  • Manage donor databases and ensure accurate gift processing and reporting.
  • Prepare fundraising reports for executive leadership and Foundation Board.

Community Relations

  • Develop partnerships with civic organizations, schools, businesses, healthcare partners, and nonprofit organizations.
  • Represent the hospital at community meetings, networking events, and civic organizations.
  • Lead community outreach initiatives that support the organization's mission.
  • Coordinate community benefit programs and partnerships.
  • Strengthen the organization's visibility and reputation within the service area.

Public Relations & Communications

  • Collaborate with Marketing and Communications to promote foundation initiatives and community impact.
  • Develop communication strategies highlighting donor stories, community partnerships, and philanthropic achievements.
  • Assist with media relations regarding community initiatives and foundation activities.
  • Oversee newsletters, annual reports, donor communications, and impact reports.

Special Events

  • Plan and oversee fundraising events including:
  • Charity Walks/Runs
  • Donor Recognition Events
  • Community Health Events
  • Campaign Kickoffs
  • Manage event budgets, sponsorships, logistics, and volunteer coordination.

Board Relations

  • Serve as primary liaison to the Foundation Board of Directors.
  • Coordinate board meetings, committee meetings, agendas, and reports.
  • Support board member engagement in fundraising and community outreach.
  • Assist with board recruitment and orientation.

Financial Management

  • Develop and manage the Foundation operating budget.
  • Monitor fundraising revenue and expenses.
  • Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and donor restrictions.
  • Collaborate with finance regarding gift accounting and financial reporting.

Leadership

  • Supervise Foundation and Community Relations staff.
  • Establish departmental goals and performance expectations.
  • Foster a culture of philanthropy throughout the organization.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to support strategic initiatives.
