Our client is a national energy infrastructure and construction organization with more than 100 years of industry experience and 2,600+ employees nationwide. Originally established as a mechanical construction company, the organization has expanded into mechanical and electrical construction, engineering design, energy infrastructure, and Energy-as-a-Service solutions. The company partners with major commercial clients across healthcare, higher education, hospitality, resorts, casinos, and data infrastructure, with operations spanning 35 states and 24 offices. The organization is experiencing continued growth and is looking for a construction leader who can help strengthen and expand its California operations.

Job Description

Provide strategic and operational leadership across complex commercial healthcare construction projects. Oversee project execution with a focus on safety, schedule, budget, quality, and client satisfaction. Establish and maintain consistent construction policies, procedures, and best practices. Provide leadership and guidance to Project Managers, Superintendents, and other field personnel. Develop, mentor, and build high-performing construction teams. Partner with project teams on planning, scheduling, budgeting, resource allocation, and project strategy. Drive continuous improvement across construction operations and project delivery. Champion a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with applicable regulations and company standards. Establish and maintain quality-control standards and inspection procedures. Identify and mitigate project risks related to schedule, quality, subcontractor performance, and scope. Support preconstruction activities and provide expertise around construction strategy and project execution. Build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders. Travel approximately 50% throughout Los Angeles and other parts of California to support active projects and teams.

The Successful Applicant

15+ years of commercial construction experience, including experience managing large and complex projects. 5+ years of construction leadership experience managing teams and/or multiple project operations. Direct HCAI/OSHPD healthcare construction experience is required. Demonstrated experience delivering complex healthcare construction projects in California. Strong understanding of HCAI/OSHPD requirements, processes, inspections, and project delivery. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred. Proven experience developing construction teams and implementing operational improvements. Strong understanding of construction safety, scheduling, budgeting, quality control, and project execution. Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills. Ability to operate effectively at both the strategic and project level. Willingness to travel approximately 50% throughout California.
