Director of CorporateAccounting Finance&Accounting Department Department:Finance& Accounting JobType:Full-Time,Salary/Exempt ReportsTo:VicePresident–Finance&Operations PositionSummary The Director of Corporate Accounting is responsible for overseeing the company’s corporate accounting, tax coordination, consolidated financial reporting, treasury coordination, internal controls, corporate audit activities, and enterprise-levelfinancialcompliancefunctions.ThisrolepartnerscloselywiththeDirectorof Property Accounting to ensure consistency, accuracy, and operational efficiency across the organization’s accounting and financial reporting processes. This role will also directly manage the Corporate Accountant. The Director of Corporate Accounting will focus primarily on corporate financial management, accounting policies, treasury activities, audit/review/compilation coordination, insurance administration, retirement plan compliance, and organizational accounting processes, while supporting operational and property accounting initiatives as needed. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical accounting expertise, supervisory skills, and experience managing complex multi-entity accounting environments within commercial real estate, development, property management, construction or related industries. - Managethemonthly,quarterly,andannualcloseprocessesforcorporate entities.
- Prepareandreviewconsolidatedfinancialstatementsandsupportingschedules.
- Coordinateannualtaxreturnpreparation for many entities andfilingwithoutsideagencies.
- Ensurefinancialreportingispreparedinaccordancewithgenerallyacceptedaccounting principles.
- Overseeintercompanyaccounting,eliminations,andconsolidatedreportingacrossall entities.
- Maintainintegrityandconsistencyofaccountingrecordsandreporting processes.
- Managementanddevelopmentofdirectreports.
Treasury&CorporateFinancialOperations - Assistinoverseeingtreasuryoperations,liquiditymanagement,andcashflowplanning.
- Coordinatebankingactivityandmaintainbankingrelationshipsalongsideexecutive leadership.
- Reviewandapprovetreasurytransactions,fundingrequests,andwireactivity.
- Coordinateannualfinancialaudits, reviews or compilationsandserveasprimaryliaisonwithexternal auditors.
- Prepareauditschedulesandrespondtoauditrequests.
- Coordinatewithexternaltaxadvisorsregardingfederalandstatetaxfilings,partnership reporting, and entity compliance matters.
Corporate Compliance, Insurance & Retirement Plan - Overseeadministrationandcoordinationofcorporateinsurancepolicies,includingrenewals, claims coordination, policy tracking, and broker relationships.
- Assistwithorganizationalriskmanagementinitiativesandinsurancecompliance requirements.
- Oversee administration and compliance activities related to the company’s 401(k) plan, includingcoordinationwiththird-partyadministrators,annualtesting,reportingrequirements, and audit support as applicable.
- Supportcompliancewithapplicableretirementplanregulationsandinternalgovernance procedures.
AccountingLeadership&Cross-FunctionalCollaboration - PartnercollaborativelywiththeDirectorof PropertyAccountingtosupportoverallaccounting department operations and organizational objectives.
- Providetechnicalaccountingexpertiseandsupportacrosstheaccountingandfinance functions.
- Collaborateonprocessimprovements,reportingconsistency,workloadbalancing,and accounting best practices.
- Assistwithpropertyaccountingandthird-partyaccountinginitiativesasneeded.
- Supportimplementationandmaintenanceofscalableaccountingproceduresandinternal controls across the organization.
- Workcloselywithexecutiveleadershipandoperationalteamstoensurealignmentbetween accounting processes and business objectives.
ProcessImprovement&SystemsManagement - Identifyopportunitiesforoperationalefficienciesandprocess automation.
- Assistinimplementation,enhancement,andoptimizationofaccountingsystemsand workflows.
- Supportdevelopmentofstandardizedreportingandaccountingproceduresacrossthe organization.
Budgeting&FinancialAnalysisSupport - Lead corporateannualbudgetingandforecastinginitiatives.
- Assistwithfinancialanalysis,variancereporting,andexecutivereporting.
Qualifications&Experience - Bachelor’sdegreeinAccounting,Finance,orrelatedfieldrequired.
- CPAcertificationstronglypreferred.
Minimum5-10yearsofprogressiveaccountingexperience,preferablywithincommercial real estate, development, property management, or related industries. - StrongknowledgeofGAAP,multi-entityaccounting,financialreporting,internalcontrols, and real estate accounting practices.
- ExperiencewithMRI,Yardi, Quickbooks orsimilaraccounting/ERPsystemspreferred.
- Experiencecoordinatingaudits,insuranceprograms,andretirementplancompliance activities preferred.
- AdvancedMicrosoftExcelandfinancialreporting skills.
- Strongcommunication,organizational,andanalyticalabilities.
- Highdegreeofprofessionalism,accountability,andattentiontodetail.
Location - ThispositionisbasedinColumbus,Ohio.
Travel - Minimaltravelmayoccasionallyberequired.
