Job Description

The Curriculum Director is a key educational leader at St. Mark’s Episcopal School, overseeing the strategic design, alignment, and implementation of the curriculum. This role supports faculty through pedagogical coaching and professional development, working with Division Heads to drive academic excellence and champion the school’s mission.

  • Lead curriculum mapping across academic departments to ensure vertical and horizontal alignment and a commitment to 21st-century pedagogy.
  • Identify curriculum gaps, evaluate educational frameworks, and propose structured implementation plans to Division Heads.
  • Identify, promote, and where appropriate, implement new, innovative curriculum programs, elective pathways, and courses that meet diverse student learning needs.
  • Serve on teams that make and implement decisions around teaching & learning.
  • Oversee the usage and maintenance of curriculum mapping software.
  • Conduct regular classroom observations to offer feedback for instructional enhancement and model best practice teaching through demo lessons.
  • Assist in onboarding new faculty members.
  • Use assessment data to inform curricular decisions. 
  • In collaboration with academic leadership, identify, plan, and support the implementation of training based on identified curricular and departmental growth needs.
  • Collaborate with academic leaders to facilitate curriculum-focused meetings.
  • Participate in, support, and assist in planning school-wide events.
  • Teach an Elective class as needed.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Head of School.

Required Qualifications and Physical Requirements

  • Masters degree in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Educational Leadership, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of successful classroom teaching experience, preferably in an independent school setting.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years in an instructional leadership role with experience writing, reviewing, and overseeing scope and sequence design.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
  • This is a 12-month, full-time, exempt position.
  • Works in a sometimes highly stressful environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges.
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Physical agility to lift up to 50 pounds; to bend, stoop, and reach overhead.
  • Work primarily in a traditional climate controlled office environment with intermittent work in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
