Reporting to the Vice President of Development, the Director of Data Management oversees donation processing, pledge management, reporting, and database infrastructure, while also serving as a key liaison to Finance, Political, Programs, and Communications teams.

This role manages the Development Associate, oversees organization-wide use of EveryAction, and ensures smooth operations between systems, third-party giving platforms, and compliance requirements.

The ideal candidate has strong experience in nonprofit data systems, a sharp eye for detail, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where accuracy and organization are essential.

General Responsibilities:

Development & Stewardship

  • Manage the Development Associate, overseeing contribution processing, pledges, acknowledgments, and donor communication.
  • Oversee donor stewardship systems, including board giving reports, recurring donor management, and third-party giving platforms (Benevity, Fidelity Charitable, etc).
  • Prepare, manage, and present monthly development reporting, KPIs, and board updates.
  • Support annual giving campaigns, CFC application, and end-of-year tax receipting.
  • Create and maintain donation forms, event forms, and donor-facing systems across EveryAction, ActBlue, and OneCause.

Finance & Compliance

  • Support processing and reconciliation of contributions across all payment methods (check, ACH, credit card, ActBlue, etc).
  • Contribute to monthly and year-end reconciliations, bundling reports, source code tracking, and audit preparation.
  • Assist with IRS and FEC reporting in partnership with Compliance.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact with the Finance department for budgets, financial coding, and systems questions.
  • Maintain contracts and renewals for EveryAction and other database tools.

Political

  • Manage candidate contribution uploads, tandem bundling, and political compliance tracking.
  • Support the Victory Campaign Board with reporting, uploads, and reconciliation.
  • Provide data and registration support for major fundraising events.

Programs

  • Contribute to the maintenance of the Elected Officials Map and bulk uploads for global and domestic programs.
  • Provide data and registration support for major events, including the International LGBTQ+ Leaders Conference.

Systems & Data Management

  • Oversee EveryAction setup, maintenance, and system integrity, including merges, deduplication, coding, and integrations.
  • Create and maintain SOPs for all data systems and processes.
  • Provide EveryAction training for new and existing staff.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors, charity watchdog platforms (Guidestar, Charity Navigator), and third-party tools.
  • Lead organizational reporting and data analysis across Development, Finance, and Programs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; plus at least five years of experience in nonprofit data management experience; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Experience managing staff and overseeing workflows.
  • Strong proficiency with EveryAction (or similar CRM), ActBlue, OneCause, and third-party giving platforms.
  • Excellent skills in database management, reconciliation, and nonprofit compliance.
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office Suite; advanced Excel skills a plus.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple competing priorities.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to present data clearly to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Commitment to the organization's mission and goals.
