Description
Position Summary
The Central Wyoming College Foundation Director of Development - Jackson will build and enhance relationships with all constituents to increase financial and other strategic support for Central Wyoming College. This position is responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding major gifts throughout the greater Teton County area. This position works collaboratively with College leadership, key faculty and staff, and volunteers; develops compelling communication pieces and proposals, creates and staffs events, and engages with the communities where prospective donors reside. This position serves as a liaison to the region's robust nonprofit ecosystem, industry partners, and elected officials to help ensure CWC's regional growth is deeply integrated with and supportive of local community needs.
Examples of Duties
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Stays knowledgeable on all aspects of Central Wyoming College including its vision, mission, history, structure, policies, financial status, etc.
- Works closely with the Executive Director of the CWC Foundation to plan and implement fundraising strategies in a moves management system that will evaluate various gift opportunities and giving vehicles that are the most suitable for a particular donor.
- Conducts field research, makes assessment calls, cultivates, solicits, provides recognition, and appropriately stewards leadership and major gifts, with an emphasis on gifts of $25,000 and greater.
- Builds and maintains strong, proactive relationships with regional elected officials, civic leaders, and key industry partners to advocate for CWC's regional impact and align workforce development philanthropy with local economic needs.
- Manages a personal portfolio of major gift prospects and donors and average at least 15 visits per month.
- Staffs the President, the Dean of the Jackson campus, and other key College leaders, faculty, and volunteers in their fundraising and friend-raising efforts.
- Assumes a lead fundraising role for Jackson-specific capital campaigns, programmatic initiatives, and special projects. Delivers presentations to the Foundation Board, campus senior leadership, and external partners.
- Recruits volunteers and volunteer leaders. Assesses need for volunteers and volunteer leaders to assist with cultivation and solicitation activities.
- Represents Central Wyoming College and the CWC Foundation to internal and external constituencies; serve on committees and attend events as needed. Participates in community, civic and other activities to foster support for and involvement with Central Wyoming College.
- Documents all constituent activity in Raiser's Edge database, as well as informing college faculty and staff of actions as needed.
- On a monthly basis, files at least 20 contact reports and on an annual basis, writes 35 gift proposals and closes at least 10 major gifts.
- Stays current on fundraising techniques and trends.
- Operate within the framework established by CWC's policies, procedures, and practices.
- Perform other reasonably related duties as directed or assigned.

Education
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent education/work experience.
- Five or more years of professional experience in development, or other intensive relationship-building/portfolio management profession such as sales, banking or trust department, insurance, etc.
- Requires optimism, creativity, curiosity, diligence, a commitment to collaboration, and enthusiasm for the mission of Central Wyoming College.
- Ability and willingness to travel and work evenings and weekends as necessary to accommodate the schedules of donors, volunteers, and events.

- Experience working with relationship management software
- Experience in project planning and management.

- Understanding of and commitment to the mission and goals of a comprehensive community college system and a willingness to play an active role in the life of the college and the community.
- A sense of humor.
- Preferred: Demonstrated knowledge of Wind River Indian Reservation culture and peoples, a significant part of CWCs service area.
Level of Supervision
- This position operates under the direct supervision of the Executive Director of the CWC Foundation.
Working Environment

- Work is performed using standard office equipment and requires the use of an automobile.
Physical Requirements
- Tasks require variety of physical activities, which do not generally involve muscular strain, such as walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching and light lifting. Regular talking, hearing and seeing required to perform essential functions of the job. Common eye, hand, finger dexterity required to perform some essential functions. Mental application utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, discriminating thinking and creative problem solving. Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
Environmental Conditions
- Work is performed in a home office with substantial work outside of the office at such places as donor's homes, places of business, restaurants, and other public meeting spaces as well as the CWC-Jackson campus. Travel, weekend and evening work will be required.
