About the Position
The Director of Development will be the first full time staff member solely focused on development at More Perfect Union and will play a central role in supporting the organization’s next phase of growth. This role operates with a high degree of trust and discretion. This is a highly collaborative role that will have regular access to confidential organizational financial information, including budget projections, revenue figures, and fundraising targets, and will act in a confidential capacity to the Executive Director, Chief Operating Officer, and Editor-in-Chief to advance major donor and foundation fundraising, strengthen development systems, and ensure that materials and messaging are aligned with organizational priorities. This position is ideal for someone who is both strategic and detail oriented, comfortable managing multiple workstreams, a great communicator and writer, and excited to help build a development function from the ground up within a fast growing media organization.
This is a rare opportunity to help shape the development function of one of the fastest growing nonprofit media organizations in the country. The position exercises independent judgment in advancing the organization's fundraising strategy and will directly influence the development of organizational priorities and long-term financial goals. The Director of Development will have significant responsibility, direct exposure to senior leadership, and the chance to make a meaningful impact on the sustainability and growth of More Perfect Union at a pivotal moment.
