Director of Digital Commerce

We are seeking an experienced Director of Digital Commerce to lead the continued growth and evolution of our client’s online business in Houston, TX. This position will provide strategic direction and day-to-day leadership across e-commerce operations, digital merchandising, website performance, paid media, email marketing, analytics, and the overall online customer experience.

Reporting into company leadership and managing an E-Commerce Specialist, the Director will set priorities, guide execution, monitor performance, and ensure digital initiatives support broader business goals. The ideal candidate is a strong leader who understands how to execute within Shopify and related digital platforms, but is equally comfortable delegating responsibilities, developing team members, and maintaining accountability for results. This role is well suited for someone who can operate at both the strategic and tactical levels—setting the vision and direction for the e-commerce function while remaining willing and able to step in when needed.
Location: Houston, TX
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Full-time, direct hire opportunity (not a temporary position)

Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the overall strategy, performance, and growth of the company’s e-commerce business
• Manage, mentor, and provide direction to the E-Commerce Specialist while establishing priorities, workflows, and performance expectations
• Oversee the company’s Shopify platform, ensuring website content, product presentation, collections, navigation, and merchandising initiatives support revenue and customer experience goals
• Develop and execute digital merchandising strategies designed to improve product discovery, customer engagement, conversion rates, and online sales
• Provide oversight of product listings, pricing, imagery, inventory information, and digital content to ensure accuracy and consistency across the website
• Lead paid digital advertising efforts across Meta, Pinterest, and other relevant platforms while monitoring campaign performance, return on investment, and customer acquisition results
• Direct email marketing strategies focused on customer acquisition, engagement, retention, and revenue growth
• Analyze website performance, customer behavior, campaign results, and digital marketing data to identify trends and growth opportunities
• Establish and monitor key e-commerce performance indicators, including traffic, conversion rates, average order value, customer engagement, and return on advertising spend
• Partner with cross-functional teams to plan and execute product launches, promotional campaigns, seasonal initiatives, and broader marketing strategies
• Identify opportunities to improve website functionality, SEO performance, conversion optimization, and the overall digital customer journey
• Translate performance data into clear recommendations, priorities, and actionable business strategies
• Evaluate emerging e-commerce technologies, AI tools, digital marketing trends, and industry best practices
• Remain knowledgeable and capable of supporting hands-on execution within Shopify, email marketing, paid media, merchandising, and reporting when business needs require it

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, Advertising, or a related field required
• Progressive e-commerce experience, including responsibility for strategy, performance, and digital growth
• Previous experience leading, mentoring, or managing e-commerce, merchandising, marketing, or digital team members

• Experience with email marketing platforms such as Klaviyo preferred
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate findings into business recommendations
• Demonstrated ability to establish priorities, delegate responsibilities, and hold team members accountable while maintaining visibility into day-to-day execution
• Excellent leadership, communication, project management, and cross-functional collaboration skills
