The Director of Education Market Referendum Development plays a pivotal role in identifying, cultivating, and securing new opportunities within the education market. This position leads the full lifecycle of referendum-related initiatives—from early prospect research and relationship development through successful referendum planning, community engagement, and the final vote. The director serves as a strategic advisor to clients, guiding them through Hoffman’s facility planning and study process and ensuring a well‑coordinated, transparent, and effective referendum information campaign.
Business Development
- Present, promote, and sell Hoffman services to prospective and existing clients.
- Conduct proactive research to identify prospects aligned with the ideal customer profile.
- Seek out new project opportunities within assigned regions and market segments.
- Build and maintain relationships with organizations and individuals who can provide early insight into upcoming projects.
- Engage internal team members strategically to strengthen client relationships while minimizing disruption to project work.
- Utilize CRM tools to maintain accurate records, enhance communication, and support accountability.
- Contribute to proposal strategies, interview preparation, and other key sales activities.
- Pursue ongoing learning to deepen understanding of project delivery and the education market.
Referendum Development
- Lead clients, planning teams, and Hoffman staff through the established Hoffman facility planning and study process.
- Support the development of planning materials, presentations, and communication tools.
- Assist in the creation and evaluation of potential facility solutions.
- Facilitate needs assessment and prioritization discussions.
- Guide clients through final solution selection.
- Collaborate with owner’s consultants to draft, review, and approve legal referendum language.
- Lead the referendum information campaign, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and community engagement.
- Coordinate all referendum-related events, outreach efforts, and communication activities.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of school referendum processes, requirements, and best practices.
- Foundational knowledge of school operations and administrative structures.
- Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, file‑sharing platforms, business software, and social media tools such as LinkedIn and Facebook.
- Highly motivated by relationship‑building and sales; exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong persuasive abilities, with the capacity to influence decisions through preparation, persistence, and alignment with Hoffman’s mission.
- Excellent organizational skills; resourceful, consistent, and reliable in follow‑through.
- Self‑directed and comfortable working independently; majority of work occurs outside the office.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively with clients and internal teams.
- Three to five years of experience in sales or leadership within the education, design, or construction markets.
Physical Demands and Work Requirements
- Willingness to travel overnight occasionally (less than 10%) and work extended hours as needed.
- Valid driver’s license and insurability under Hoffman’s standard policy requirements.
- Must meet Hoffman’s background standards; individuals with recent drug‑related charges (within the last five years) or histories of violent or predatory behavior are not eligible for employment.
