Pavion and our family of companies are seeking a talented and motivated Director of Engineering to join our shared services team.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement and monitor mid-term and long-term goals that are in alignment with the organization’s strategic plan.  Create comprehensive departmental strategies, tying them to individual business goals as well as overarching organizational goals
  • Oversee architectural decisions and technical strategies to ensure scalability, reliability, and performance of solutions.  Establish and enforce best practices, coding standards, and development methodologies (e.g., Agile, DevOps).  Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation and maintain competitive advantage
  • Ensure timely delivery of high-quality engineering projects by setting clear priorities and milestones.  Collaborate with product management and other stakeholders to define technical requirements and scope.  Manage engineering budgets, resource allocation, and vendor relationships effectively
  • Partner with leadership across product, marketing, operations, and customer success teams to align engineering efforts with business needs.  Serve as the technical point of contact for clients, partners, and key stakeholders when necessary.  Communicate engineering progress, challenges, and successes to executive leadership
  • Recruit, retain, and develop top engineering talent to build high-performing teams.  Inspire and ensure teams achieve excellence in performance and innovation.  Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and create professional development plans.  Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the engineering organization.  Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the engineering department

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field
  • 10+ years’ experience in engineering roles, 3+ years in a senior management capacity
  • Strong technical background, with experience in [specific technologies or domains relevant to the role]
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and scale engineering teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Expertise in project management, Agile methodologies, and engineering best practices
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • Available to travel 40% of time, or as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field
