Impact Recruitment is seeking a Civil Engineering Department Manager to lead and expand our clients civil team in Monroe, Connecticut.
About the Role
As the Civil Engineering Department Manager, you will oversee a team of engineers, guiding the design and development of civil infrastructure projects. This position involves project management, business development, and leadership within a collaborative team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead design development, contract document preparation, cost estimation, and client relations.
- Manage projects including commercial, residential, and multi-family developments, mixed-use projects, rezoning due diligence, public facilities, and utility/site development.
- Drive business development by engaging with the community and fostering client relationships to support company growth.
- Ensure high-quality designs that align with budget and timeline objectives.
- Oversee and review construction document preparation, including site layouts, grading, utility plans, stormwater management, roadway designs, and permitting.
- Mentor and supervise engineering staff, fostering professional growth and technical expertise.
- Collaborate with agencies, stakeholders, and internal teams to ensure successful project execution.
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) License
- 10+ years of civil engineering design and project management experience
- Strong expertise in land development, site planning, grading, and construction document preparation
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment with tight deadlines
- Business development experience and strong client relationship management skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D (hands-on design not required, but familiarity essential)
- Experience with QA/QC processes and municipal permitting
- Strong financial management skills and project budgeting expertise
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with experience presenting to boards, commissions, or councils
