The Role

The Director of Enterprise Architecture EA is responsible for driving enterprise-wide alignment adoption and adherence to architecture strategies standards and governance practices. This role serves as a critical bridge between enterprise strategy and execution ensuring technology solutions platforms and systems align with business objectives and target-state architectures.

This is a hands-on leadership role that combines deep technical engagement with organizational influence. The Director actively participates in architecture analysis solution design system evaluations and technology decisions while leading governance compliance and architecture alignment efforts across the enterprise.

The role is accountable for establishing visibility into architecture health compliance risk and performance through data-driven insights ensuring technology investments support both business outcomes and enterprise standards. By partnering closely with Architecture Engineering Product Security and Business leaders the Director drives consistency modernization and continuous improvement across the technology landscape.

This role carries enterprise-wide responsibility for architecture alignment governance execution and standards adoption. The Director has direct influence over solution architecture system design integration patterns and technology decisions with significant impact on delivery quality platform consistency operational efficiency resiliency and modernization outcomes. As a key leader within the Enterprise Architecture organization this role ensures architecture strategy is successfully translated into execution and measurable business value.

Key responsibilities include

Drive alignment of systems platforms and solutions with enterprise architecture strategies and target-state roadmaps.

Translate enterprise architecture standards principles and policies into actionable guidance for delivery teams.

Actively participate in solution design reviews architecture assessments and technology evaluations.

Define architecture patterns integration approaches and solution strategies that support business and technology objectives.

Provide hands-on leadership in architecture analysis solution shaping and complex design decisions.

Lead and operationalize enterprise architecture governance processes forums and controls.

Ensure adherence to architecture standards integration patterns design principles and governance policies.

Identify assess and address architectural drift policy exceptions technical debt and technology risks.

Establish and maintain architecture observability practices that provide visibility into system health resiliency compliance and performance.

Define and track architecture KPIs and metrics to measure effectiveness maturity alignment and adoption.

Provide enterprise-wide visibility into technical debt integration complexity system resiliency architecture health and technology risk.

Translate architecture and operational data into actionable insights that inform strategic and operational decision-making.

Enable fact-based tradeoff decisions across modernization integration platform usage and technology investments.

Partner across Architecture Engineering Product Security and Business organizations to drive alignment and execution.

Serve as a liaison between Enterprise Architecture strategy and delivery execution.

Influence stakeholders through governance collaboration and data-driven communication.

Drive continuous improvement by reducing technical debt eliminating duplication and promoting modern architecture practices including API-first event-driven cloud-native and platform-based approaches.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

12 years of experience in Enterprise Architecture Solution Architecture Systems Architecture or related disciplines.

Proven experience operating within an Enterprise Architecture function including architecture governance standards and frameworks.

Demonstrated ability to balance hands-on technical architecture work with strategic leadership responsibilities.

Strong expertise in enterprise architecture governance compliance and operating models.

Deep understanding of integration patterns including APIs event-driven architectures and messaging platforms.

Strong knowledge of distributed systems cloud-native architectures and enterprise technology ecosystems.

Experience evaluating architecture designs integration strategies and technology selections.

Proven success driving architecture alignment across large complex organizations.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making.

Experience establishing and leveraging architecture metrics KPIs and observability frameworks.

Ability to assess technical debt architecture risk resiliency and platform effectiveness.

Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills across technical and business audiences.

Excellent communication facilitation and executive presentation capabilities.

Experience leading cross-functional teams and driving outcomes through influence rather than direct authority.

Ability to translate strategic objectives into practical architecture guidance and execution plans.

Experience supporting enterprise transformation modernization and technology simplification initiatives.

Experience implementing enterprise architecture observability or compliance frameworks preferred.

Familiarity with Power BI Tableau or similar visualization and analytics tools preferred.

Exposure to Platform Engineering Site Reliability Engineering SRE or operational metrics frameworks preferred.

Experience supporting large-scale cloud digital or enterprise modernization programs preferred.

Fidelitys Onsite Working Model

Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently some roles and locations require 100 onsite presence while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues. This transition does not apply to fully remote roles.
