Director of Engineering / Chief Engineer

About the Role
A luxury beachfront hotel in Miami Beach is seeking an experienced Director of Engineering to oversee all engineering operations, maintenance programs, building systems, and facility appearance. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for maintaining a safe, efficient, and well-maintained property while leading a team of engineering professionals.
Key Responsibilities
• Oversee the operation and maintenance of all hotel equipment, systems, and facilities.
• Manage preventive maintenance programs, inspections, work orders, and daily engineering operations.
• Supervise, train, coach, and evaluate engineering team members.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, fire safety, and health regulations.
• Coordinate vendors, contractors, and capital improvement projects.
• Oversee maintenance of guest rooms, public areas, meeting rooms, landscaping, and pool facilities.
• Support energy conservation and sustainability initiatives.
• Partner with hotel leadership to ensure exceptional guest satisfaction and operational excellence.
Qualifications
• Minimum 5 years of hotel engineering or building maintenance experience with supervisory responsibilities.
• Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building systems.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety standards.
• Strong leadership, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Hospitality industry experience strongly preferred.
• Bilingual abilities are a plus.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift, carry, or push up to 80 lbs.
• Ability to climb ladders and work at heights when necessary.
• Ability to work in varying environmental conditions.
