Position Summary: Under the direction of the Chief of Innovation and the Founder/President, theDirector of Finance & Accounting would be responsible and accountable for all aspects of thefinancial framework, and fiscal landscape of the organization.
Position Responsibilities:
Oversee financial operations of the organization
Conduct weekly and monthly financial assessments and generate reports to be submitted to the executive team
Establish and review budgets
Develop annual financial plans and projections for the organization
Conduct analysis of financial risks and benefits on business initiatives
Collaborate with the Board of Directors and the Executive Team to create a fund development plan which increases revenues to support the strategic direction of the organization Evaluates reports, decisions and results of organization initiatives in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed
Engage the Board of Directors to develop short-, medium-, and long-term financial plans and projections
Remain up-to-date on nonprofit audit best practices and state and federal laws regarding nonprofit operations
Monitor and evaluate all fundraising activities to ensure that the fundraising goals are being achieved
Prepare for and present financial information for grant or audits or fiscal reviews as needed
Accomplishes special project results by identifying and clarifying issues and priorities; communicating and coordinating requirements; expediting fulfillment; evaluating milestone accomplishments; evaluating optional courses of action; changing assumptions and direction.
Supports management by providing human resources advice, counsel, and decisions; analyzing information and applications.
Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements.
Develop goals and action plans that are in alignment with the organization.
Preferred Qualifications:
7+ years’ financial management experience
Strong knowledge of project-based accounting software
Impeccable mathematics and analytical skills
Able to meet tight deadlines and work evenings as needed
Excellent computer skills
Ability to operate computers and possess basic knowledge of MS Windows, Microsoft Word and other software.
Excellent supervision, managerial, and organizational skills.
Excellent communication skills.
Positive attitude, high level of professionalism, enthusiasm and customer service
Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
Regular and consistent attendance
May be subject to personal credit check
Must perform duties with moderate direction given, operating from established directions and instructions. Decisions are made with general organization policy constraints, but occasionally requires independent decision- making.
