Strong financial leadership allows us to responsibly steward our resources, meet our commitments to funders and partners, and continue growing our impact throughout the community.We're looking for a finance leader who understands that the numbers matter - and so does the mission behind them.About the RoleAs the Director of Finance, you'll lead the day-to-day operations of The Just One Project's Finance Department and play a key role in protecting the financial health and integrity of the organization.Reporting to the Senior Executive Director of Revenue, you'll oversee our accounting operations, financial systems, payroll, accounts payable and receivable, month-end close, grant and restricted-fund accounting, internal controls, compliance, and Finance Department team.This role is ideal for an experienced finance professional who can move comfortably between the big picture and the details. One moment you may be reviewing financial controls or grant allocations, and the next you're helping your team resolve a reconciliation issue, strengthening a workflow, or preparing documentation for an audit.We're looking for someone who brings strong technical accounting knowledge, sound professional judgment, and thoughtful leadership to the table. You'll be trusted to identify risks, improve processes, maintain high standards of accuracy and accountability, and build systems that help the Finance Department - and the organization as a whole - operate effectively.This is a full-time position requiring approximately 40 hours per week. Evening, weekend, event-based, or on-call work may occasionally be required based on operational needs.What You'll DoLead the day-to-day operations of the .Finance Department, including team workflows, deadlines, task delegation, training, and accountabilityServe as a technical resource for the Finance team on accounting practices, financial procedures, documentation, and compliance.Develop and strengthen financial procedures, workflows, documentation standards, and internal controls.Identify financial risks, process gaps, control weaknesses, and opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracyServe as the primary administrator and subject matter expert for QuickBooks Online, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the organization's general ledger.Lead month-end and year-end close activities, including reconciliations, journal entries, adjustments, discrepancy resolution, and supporting documentation.Oversee the accurate recording and classification of deposits, expenses, bills, receivables, transfers, and other financial transactions.Manage accounting structures within QuickBooks, including Projects and Classes, to appropriately track programs, grants, departments, funding sources, and restricted and unrestricted funds.Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable, including vendor workflows, payments, collections, coding, documentation, and revenue recording.Review vendor bills and documentation and support accurate and timely 1099 reporting.Oversee bank deposits, withdrawals, transfers, ACH/EFT activity, and related cash-management processes.Ensure expenses, payroll, revenue, and other financial activity are appropriately allocated across programs, grants, departments, and funding sources.Oversee grant and restricted-fund accounting, including cost allocations, reconciliations, supporting documentation, and reimbursement readiness.Partner with the Senior Executive Director of Revenue on monthly grant reconciliations and Request for Reimbursement (RFR) preparation and review.Maintain complete, organized, and audit-ready records for grants, contributions, in-kind donations, restricted funds, and reimbursement requests.Oversee payroll processing, reconciliation, financial controls, payroll entries, and grant and program allocations.Partner with Human Resources and our PEO to resolve payroll discrepancies and maintain accurate and compliant payroll processes.Maintain financial operations and records in accordance with GAAP, accrual-basis accounting requirements, grant and funder requirements, applicable IRS requirements, and federal grant requirements, including Uniform Guidance.Maintain strong internal financial controls that safeguard organizational assets, support accurate reporting, and mitigate financial risk.Support preparation for the annual audit and Form 990 alongside the Senior Executive Director of Revenue and external accounting firm.Monitor fixed asset records and help identify asset tracking, replacement, retirement, and disposal needs.Represent The Just One Project at organization-wide events, including participation in up to six Pop-Up & Give events each year.What You BringBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.7+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience.3+ years of supervisory or department leadership experience.Advanced proficiency with QuickBooks Online.Strong working knowledge of GAAP, accrual-basis accounting, and nonprofit fund accounting.Hands-on experience with full-cycle accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, reconciliations, and month-end close.Experience overseeing payroll processing, payroll controls, reconciliations, and discrepancy resolution.Working knowledge of federal grant compliance, including Uniform Guidance and cost-allocation principles.Familiarity with nonprofit audit preparation, Form 990, and supporting financial schedules.Strong leadership skills with the ability to delegate, coach, train, and hold a team accountable.Excellent analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.The ability to see how financial processes, data, systems, and internal controls work together.A high level of integrity, discretion, and accountability when handling confidential financial informationExperience collaborating across departments, including Development, Programs, Operations, and Human Resources.Proficiency with accounting software, Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace.Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Nevada accounting experience, including restricted-fund and grant management.CPA, CNAP (Certified Nonprofit Accounting Professional), or equivalent professional certification.Compensation and BenefitsAs a
