About the RoleLight of Life Ministries has served the homeless and those in need since 1952.  We are a faith-based non-profit making a significant community contribution in the Northside of Pittsburgh.Currently we seek a Director of Finance to lead the organization's financial and accounting operations. This role is responsible for maintaining strong financial controls, ensuring adherence to GAAP and ECFA standards, and delivering timely, well-supported reporting to leaders and the Board. The position is well suited for someone who brings sound judgment, works effectively within established standards, and can move between detailed financial oversight and broader organizational support. Core ResponsibilitiesLead all accounting processes across the organization's entities in alignment with internal control policies and proceduresDirect the annual budget creation process and provide financial guidance that supports sound organizational planningPrepare and deliver timely financial reports for managers, senior leaders, the Board, and external stakeholdersOversee the annual audit process for Light of Life and L2 Community Support, including preparation of documentation and coordination with auditorsEnsure financial transactions and reporting practices remain aligned with GAAP, ECFA standards, and internal policiesProvide financial input on contracts, budget decisions, and organizational development initiativesPartner with senior leaders to support financial and budgetary decision-making across the organizationHire, lead, and develop the accounting team while reinforcing accountability, quality, and consistency in execution Required Skills & AbilitiesStrong command of accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, and audit preparationAbility to interpret financial information clearly for both financial and non-financial stakeholdersSound decision-making skills supported by careful review of financial details and documentationAbility to manage multiple financial priorities while maintaining quality and follow-throughClear written and verbal communication skills for Board reporting, stakeholder updates, and internal collaborationExperience leading and developing a finance or accounting team Education and ExperienceBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related fieldSignificant experience in finance and accounting leadershipKnowledge of GAAP and financial control practices requiredExperience supporting audits and preparing formal financial reporting requiredExperience in a nonprofit environment and familiarity with ECFA standards preferred
