Job Overview

Our client, a well-established nonprofit organization, is seeking a hands-on, results-driven Director of Finance to join their Philadelphia, PA team. This role is ideal for a dynamic financial leader who excels at both day-to-day tactical execution and long-term strategic planning, ensuring the organization’s financial health and sustainability.

As Director of Finance, you will oversee all financial functions—from budgeting and forecasting to audits and compliance—while remaining actively engaged in operational finance. Position Details

Position Type: Direct Hire
Start: As Soon As Possible
Salary Range: $125,000 – $150,000 per year

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Partner with the President & CEO to develop the annual organizational budget, manage cash flow, and provide ongoing fiscal guidance to ensure operational efficiency
  • Take a hands-on approach in overseeing day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and medical billing
  • Monitor short-term and long-term fiscal health, delivering accurate cash-flow forecasting and identifying opportunities to maximize income and financial efficiency
  • Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with the Senior Leadership Team, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities
  • Develop, document, and implement financial policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including tax laws and grant requirements
  • Prepare and present timely financial reports to the CEO and Board, offering actionable insights and recommendations
  • Manage and support annual audits, ensuring efficient processes and timely resolution of findings
  • Negotiate and oversee agency insurance policies, including Liability, Workers’ Compensation, and Property & Casualty coverage
  • Partner with the Director of Human Resources to ensure employee benefits plans are competitive and properly funded
  • Manage relationships with external stakeholders, including banks, auditors, grant funders, and vendors
  • Oversee leases, contracts, and financial commitments to ensure alignment with budgetary and organizational goals
  • Stay current on financial trends, laws, and best practices, updating fiscal policies as needed
  • Perform additional duties as required to support organizational success

Experience & Qualifications

Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
  • Proven experience in nonprofit or mission-driven financial leadership
  • Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, audits, and compliance
  • Hands-on experience with accounting operations, payroll, and cash-flow management
  • Ability to present financial data clearly to executive leadership and Boards
Preferred Skills
  • Experience working with grant funding and medical billing
  • Background in nonprofit healthcare or social services organizations
  • Strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills
