Rocky Point Care Center currently is accepting applications for the position of Director of Dietary Services for full-time positions. Rocky Point Care Center is a 90 bed, short-term rehabilitation facility located in Lakeport, California.

GENERAL PURPOSE
The Certified Director of Dietary plans, organizes, and directs the overall operations of the Dietary Department and food services within the facility in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations. The Director of Dietary ensures that quality dietary services are provided daily, and that the dietary department is maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Plans, develops, organizes, implements, and evaluates the Dietary Department, its programs, and activities
Directs the daily functions of the Dietary Department in accordance with the facility and department’s policies and procedures.
Assists in developing and implementing dietary policies and procedures. Reviews policies and procedures at least annually and makes recommendations to Dietitian and/or Facility Administrator.
Collaborates with Dietitian, other clinicians and direct care staff related to dietary needs of residents and development of comprehensive patient centered care plan.
Coordinates dietary services and activities with other related departments (i.e., Nursing, Housekeeping, Social Services, etc.)
Processes diet changes and new diets as received from nursing services.
Ensures that menus are maintained and filed in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Supervises, trains, and schedules dietary personnel to maintain sufficient and competent dietary department.
Assists in establishing a food service production line, etc., to ensure that meals are prepared in a timely manner.
Assists in resident’s discharge plan as related to dietary services.
Reviews complaints and grievances from residents, their representative and/or families, staff, and/or others and reports to the appropriate member of the facility leadership team.
Assists in developing, implementing, and maintaining an ongoing quality assurance program for the Dietary Department.
Serves on, participates in, and attends various committees of the facility (i.e., Infection Control, Policy Advisory, Pharmaceutical, Budget, Quality Assessment and Assurance, etc.) as required and/or as appointed by the Facility Administrator.
Assists in the recruitment, interviewing, selection, counseling, or termination of dietary personnel as necessary.
Conducts performance evaluations in accordance with the facility's policies and procedures and ensures competency of dietary personnel.
Monitors dietary service personnel to assure that they are following established safety procedures and regulations in the use of equipment and in performance of the job.
Ensures that all food storage rooms, preparation areas, etc., are maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner.
Ensures that stock levels of staple/non-staple food, supplies, equipment, etc., are always maintained at adequate levels.
Maintains current written records of department expenditures and assures that adequate financial records and cost reports are submitted to the Facility Administrator upon request or as necessary.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
CDM Certified or equivalent
High School Diploma; Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or related field preferred.
One (1) year dietary experience in a hospital, skilled nursing care facility, or other related medical facility preferred.
Must have the ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions at a level necessary to accomplish this job.
Must have the ability to relate positively and favorably to residents and families and to work cooperatively with the other associates.
Must maintain regular attendance.
Must meet all local health regulations and pass post-employment physical exam, if required. This requirement also includes drug screening, criminal background investigation, and reference inquiry.
Must be able to communicate verbally in a positive and professional manner. Must be capable of performing the essential job functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Physical and Sensory requirements (with or without the aid of mechanical devices): Walking, reaching, bending, lifting, grasping, fine-hand coordination, pushing and pulling; ability to communicate with residents; ability to distinguish smells and temperatures; ability to read and write; and ability to remain calm under emergency situations and while dealing with multiple tasks.
