Director of Golf Department: Golf Reports To: General Manager FLSA Status: Exempt (Salaried) Position Summary The Director of Golf is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction, financial performance, and daily operations of the Lanier Islands Golf Department. This position ensures the delivery of an exceptional golf experience through outstanding guest service, operational excellence, and effective leadership of all golf-related functions. The Director oversees golf operations, golf course maintenance, golf retail, food and beverage operations within the golf facility, tournaments, memberships, merchandising, staffing, and revenue generation while maintaining the highest standards of quality and hospitality. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Leadership & Operations - Direct and oversee all golf operations, ensuring exceptional guest satisfaction and operational efficiency.

- Develop departmental goals, operating procedures, and service standards consistent with Lanier Islands' mission and brand.
- Foster a positive, guest-focused culture through coaching, mentoring, and employee development.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and applicable laws.
Financial Management - Develop and manage the annual operating and capital budgets.
- Monitor revenues, expenses, labor costs, and departmental profitability.
- Analyze financial performance and implement strategies to maximize revenue while controlling expenses.
- Maintain inventory controls for retail merchandise, food and beverage, and golf equipment.
Golf Operations - Oversee daily tee sheet management and pace of play.
- Ensure all golf events, tournaments, outings, and member activities are professionally executed.
- Maintain high standards for golf course presentation in partnership with Golf Course Maintenance.
- Oversee cart fleet maintenance, utilization, and replacement planning.
- Coordinate instructional programs, clinics, and player development initiatives.
Sales & Marketing - Develop and implement strategies to increase rounds played, memberships, tournaments, and group outings.
- Work closely with Resort Sales, Marketing, and Catering teams to maximize golf-related business opportunities.
- Build relationships with corporate clients, tournament organizers, community organizations, and golf associations.
- Oversee golf merchandising, pricing strategies, inventory selection, and retail promotions.
Guest Experience - Ensure all guests receive exceptional hospitality and personalized service.
- Resolve guest concerns promptly and professionally.
- Continuously evaluate and improve the overall golf experience.
Human Resources - Recruit, hire, train, schedule, coach, and evaluate departmental team members.
- Conduct regular performance reviews.
- Promote teamwork and employee engagement.
- Ensure staffing levels meet operational demands while maintaining labor efficiency.
Course Maintenance Collaboration - Partner with the Golf Course Superintendent to maintain championship-quality playing conditions.
- Coordinate maintenance schedules with tournaments and resort events.
- Participate in long-term capital improvement planning.
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, Golf Management, or related field preferred.
- PGA Membership in good standing.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive golf management experience, preferably within a resort or private club environment.
- Proven leadership experience managing multiple departments and large teams.
- Strong financial acumen, budgeting, and business planning skills.
- Experience with golf management software, POS systems, tee sheet management, and retail inventory systems.
- Excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends, holidays, and evenings as business demands require.
