The Susan Samueli Integrative Health Institute (SSIHI), part of UCI Health and the Susan & Henry College of Health Sciences, works to transform healthcare through the practice of integrative health by conducting rigorous research, promoting evidence-based treatment modalities, educating the public on well-being practices, providing individualized, patient-centered clinical care, and providing services to the community that focus on obtaining optimal health.



Responsibilities:

The Director of Health and Wellness Coaching independently oversees the Health and Wellness Coaching Program and serves as the primary representative and subject matter expert to faculty, staff, clinicians, and other university representatives as well as external stakeholders and leaders. The Director of Health and Wellness Coaching provides strategic leadership and operational oversight of program administration, finance, and contractual agreements to ensure alignment with institutional policies, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements. The Director supervises program staff, students, instructional faculty, and contracted instructors, including recruitment, onboarding, evaluation, and performance management. The Director leads the design, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of various program components, including curriculum, competencies, assessments, and learner support services, and teaches courses within the program as part of assigned responsibilities. Additionally, the director services as the principal liaison among faculty, leadership, contractors, administrators, and learners to support effective communication and program operations.

The Director manages program records, learner data, and accreditation documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with university and regulatory requirements. Uses data, analytics, and evaluation trends to identify operational or educational challenges and implement solutions that enhance program quality and learner outcomes. Supports accreditation activities by monitoring compliance, conducting program reviews or audits, and recommending improvements to policies and procedures. Leads the planning and execution of all HWC educational activities, conferences, and professional events, including budgeting, speaker coordination, venue selection, and logistical planning.

The director also develops and maintains partnerships and vendor relationships to support program initiatives and learning opportunities. Monitors program budgets, approves program-related expenditures, and collaborates with institutional finance partners to reconcile and report on financial activities. Provides advising and guidance to learners on complex program requirements, schedules, and professional development pathways. Leads workshops, information sessions, and communications that support faculty engagement, learner success, and program visibility. Develops and implements systems and operational processes that improve program efficiency, enhance the learning experience, and support strategic program growth.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Academic background and experience in Health and Wellness Coaching.
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills.
  • Advanced ability to think creatively and independently on concepts requiring advanced analytical skills.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse groups to achieve results.
  • Advanced ability to work collaboratively with internal and external peers and managers.
  • Degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • At least 7 years of experience managing or leading a health and wellness coaching program / or equivalent working experience


Preferred:

  • Advanced knowledge of administrative, human resources and contractual principles and practices.
  • Master’s degree in related area
  • Healthcare professional degree


Special Conditions:

  • Must be willing to work evenings and occasionally work weekends and/or travel for meetings and conferences
